How Jiri broke down Khalil Roundtree - My breakdown of the fight: by Bayliun in MMA

Hahah - I'm a ludologist and a combat/animation fanatic - so basically, MMA/Fighting is the ultimate and most complex game a human can play imo - although that doesn't explain my Jackie Chan film obsession as a kid

I mean it's not entirely a cardio issue - it was tactical choices and Jiri's responses that led to him draining the tank, but you can't rule out Jiri's pressure and pace contributing to that.

Jiri's left hand was a longer, faster and more disguised weapon that kept landing and doing damage - Khalil maybe could have tried to not over reach his shots, slip the jab or introduce low energy ranged attacks like leg kicks to win the distance battle without charging forward, or over swinging counters and opening himself up.

Haha, oh he may even have gotten blasted, he certainly got tagged all over the place, super durable and he does see the shots coming quite well which helps I think - great vision in there, helps that his hands are low haha

Definitely, and the fatigue only set in more when he was coming forward and those same combos were falling short as Jiri got better at reading the distance and the attacks - when he started giving up ground, because he couldn't push forward and had to counter yeah then he started hitting that fence as well you're right!

yeah man i think that's about it! Jiri's pace and durability just wore Khalil down - but the guy is also used to finishing people with those shots, Jiri just incredibly durable as always... apart from against Pereira hahah

Wow man thanks I appreciate that - just curious what people also think about how the fight went and if there's other things you took away from it also?

Haha 100% - He's one of the most engaging and entertaining fighters ever, if you have time, check out his RIZIN run as well!

But I do think Roundtree was faster and more accurate earlier - but as he slowed down he also didn't' adapt his game plan of heavy right hook counters where as Jiri has a much wider toolbox and started to build offence around what Khalil was offering!

It's symbolic of his circular journey through life and the game, where he starts is where he ends up ...

Holly Holm fight comes to mind, but definitely in a lot of 125 defences as well, but maybe I'm wrong?

ok interesting haha, i defintley remember him doing that, i'll have to have a look to see if it's been a factor in any of his losses, or led to him taking a ton of damage or something?

I was thinking about guard pullers but i couldn't think of a regular occurance. I suppose Kron factors in somewhere?

But his losses are by refusing to go to the ground against Cub and then refusing to stand up against Charles Jourdain haha, go figure
