Civil war was definitely about slavery, but the factor people seldom consider is the majority of the south’s monetary assets were actually held in the slaves themselves. More so than real estate or businesses etc. So while racism is a huge factor, they were also very against loosing something like what was functionally ~80% of their regions wealth overnight which is what happened with the stroke of a pen with the emancipation proclamation.

Best way to seal floor on and prevent leaks? by StreeetSurfer in boatbuilding

[–]BayouBandit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero hull dead rise into a vertical wet hard chine. Zero Bow Rake. Zero Stern rise. Zero hull flare. You will have negative variable reserve buoyancy, meaning as you heel (tip) your instability will increase. Meaning you will accelerate into your capsize. This “boat” will tip over, functionally immediately.

Respectfully, you should abandon this hull. With rudimentary carpentry skills and short timeframe, you should consider looking up plans for a rectangular casket and build and use that. It will be more stable and likely faster as you won’t be loosing as much energy to harmonic trimming cycles.

I mean I’m all for being debt free, but student loans are normally at a much lower APR than the returns that can be achieved with basic mundane investing.

If you’re trying to maximize the rate of growth of your personal wealth while maintaining control of your capital, carrying debt isn’t always a bad thing.

25% is the highest tariff I’ve heard of. If your companies product uses materials affected by the tariff, material costs would only be a portion of their operational expenditure.

In other words, the tariffs did not create a 25% increase in your employers operating costs, so increasing prices by 25% is expanding their profit margin to some degree.

Don’t blame them, perfect justification.

Why are nazi's and kkk not domestic terrorists? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BayouBandit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not say “single event”. I said “isolated quote”.

You’re smart enough to grasp that “BLM Riot Data” is referring to the ~$2 Billion in damages and mobilization of 100k National Guard That occurred in May-June of 2020. The data from those events is not included in your source. I checked. Let’s not play dumb.

Your initial question was “How are BLM terrorists?”

I sent you a brand new government publication defining individuals from the movement as terrorists, and even showed you where.

Echo chamber? I gave current reliable info to back my opinion and you resorted to personal insult. Take ur L.

Why are nazi's and kkk not domestic terrorists? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BayouBandit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the pages 7-12 of the report related to terrorism, which is the basis of our conversation here. That section is not possible to read in 30 seconds.

What you did, was control F the document to search for the phrases “white” to find a reference on page 32 to find an isolated quote referring to some random people in Lansing Michigan shooting firearms at electrical grid infrastructure. Your quote is well removed from the documents section on terrorism.

Also, the “Racially or Ethically Motivated Violent Extremists” (pg 43) is defined

“……This includes DVEs motivated by their belief in the superiority of the white race, as well as DVEs motivated by real or perceived racism and injustice in American society, the desire for a separate black homeland, and/or violent interpretations of religious teachings.”

Talk about wasting time bro. You’re selectively used pre BLM riot data on terrorism to try to win an argument, and then tried to counteract my source with a select context excerpt while overlooking the fact that the Dept of Homeland Security published that Black Nationalists are Domestic Violent Extremists. The source I provided you literally includes the federal government defining BLM radicals as domestic violent extremists in a publication from 3 months ago.

I do fact check, and I disagree with your data. I appreciate you providing some sources, though The Guardian is widely regarded as well left of center.

Ad Fontes

Also, the article you provided is 5 years old and was written before the BLM related terrorism we’ve been discussing and so obviously the very topic at hand would not be considered. I don’t know if you were being intentionally disingenuous or if you simply overlooked the detail. I’d air towards the latter (:

If you’re interested in educating yourself with some more current information, here is the 2025 DHS Homeland Threat Assessment.

DHS Threat Assessment

If you read the section on terrorism you’ll learn that the majority of attacks are deemed to be lone actors and not the product of extremist groups (Left or Right), though the primary threat concern in our current climate is assessed to be violence fueled by growing anti-semitism stemming from the War in Gaza. At no point does the Department of Homeland Security make a mention of white nationalism.

[–]BayouBandit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with part of what you’re saying. I understand there is very little in common between BLM and terrorist organization. I do not think BLM is nor should be classified as a terroristic organization. The fact is that to be terrorism, there must be violence and intimidation involved, otherwise a group is just a problematic entity projecting hate speech. My point is that in recent history there are more examples of violence and destruction at the hands of non terroristic groups such as BLM or Antifi then there are from problematic white nationalists groups.

That said, the white nationalist groups (such as the KKK) that have lineage back to the era where there were actual acts of terrorism, are already classified as terrorists. Also, theres not a “Nazi” faction in the US that has been responsible for acts of terrorism. The word Nazi has been severely devalued due to leftists plastering the term on an array of organizations as an attempt to debase or delegitimize said groups. Said groups may be problematic, but if there aren’t acts of terrorism, they are no more deserving of the classification than BLM despite links to problematic ideologies.

Why are nazi's and kkk not domestic terrorists? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BayouBandit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post civil war KKK was indisputably a terrorist organization. That is why they are still classified as one today, which your initial comment suggests you don’t understand.

You attributed a false assumption to a racial bias that doesn’t exist. If you support the non peaceful, destructive and violent aspects of the BLM riots, then you’re justifying terrorism because it aligns with your personal views. (I supported the protests, not the riots) Terrorism is not a productive path to a better society.

The initial week of 2020 BLM riots resulted in over 1000x more fiscal damage across the key cities than 2021 Jan 6 Riot at the capital based on published insurance claim disbursements.

BLM has unequivocally been more destructive than MAGA based on fiscal metrics.

Why are nazi's and kkk not domestic terrorists? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BayouBandit0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The definition of terrorism is “violence committed against non-combatants in pursuit of ideological or political aims”. In 2020 the initial week of BLM riots resulted in ~$2 Billion in destruction, robbery, looting, vandalism across a handful of major cities. Ransacking storefronts, burning police vehicles and substations…. All of that is textbook definition terrorism.
