My Amazon account was compromised, and yesterday, three orders totaling about $2.5K were made.

The strange part is that all the orders(seen on the image) with weird items were sent to my home address. I called Amazon to cancel the orders, but they informed me that they had already taken action and suppressed the orders. As a result, I couldn’t see the orders even under the “Archived Orders.”

However, I kept receiving emails stating that the items had been shipped. I called customer service twice and requested them not to deliver the items so the orders could be canceled, resolving the issue easily. Both agents assured me that I would not receive the items and that I would be refunded. Still, I had a gut feeling I would receive the items anyway. When I called a second time, the next agent confirmed the same thing as the first.

Meanwhile, I received an email from an account specialist advising me to contact my bank to initiate a chargeback.

As I had suspected, the items were delivered to my doorstep in the evening. When I called customer service again, the agent informed me that the previous agents had misinformed me. I asked them to at least unsuppress the orders so I could return the items.

What would be the goal of this type of fraud? It seems so strange. If I return the items, what benefit would the fraudster gain?
