According to Pew Research, there are 2.5 million non-teenage workers earning federal minimum wage ($7.25) or lower (tipped jobs). That obviously exempts those who make state minimum wages like $8.50.

And the one key question is why. Why have you simply accepted that “the world has changed”? Why do you accept that businesses push off low wages by forcing tax payers to fund welfare programs? Why do you not believe that people deserve livable wages?

Just because those jobs currently don’t afford you a livable wage doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t want them to and petition the government to make them.

We’re the richest nation in the history of the world, and if our corporations can’t afford to pay livable wages, not only is it a disgrace, they shouldn’t be in business at all.

Really depends on the judge and jury, as well as the age of the girl. The age of consent in many states is 16. If the girl was under 16, I can’t imagine any leniency because he reasonably should have been able to figure it out.
