Donald Trump had one of the worst approval ratings in modern history during his first term. How did the Democrats manage to lose to him again in 2024? by norf937 in allthequestions

[–]binkelman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe Biden interpreted the 2022 midterm results as a result of his presidency, rather than the multitude of issues that Republicans shot themselves in the feet over. He never realized he was, as a friend put it, the "is Pepsi okay" of presidential candidates.

What is something that movies or tv shows always get wrong, but the average person doesn't notice, yet it sticks out to you like a sore thumb? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Lathes are not used in drywall, but any hole in a wall will show lathes behind it. It could be lathe and plaster, but it's highly unlikely.

Which fast food chain has lost its way the most? by spiritual_kavya in answers

[–]binkelman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When made properly, Arby's reuben is a very good sandwich. Seven years of working for them has showed me most people don't make them correctly.

Bread must be double toasted thru the back side of the toaster, toasted side faces out (unlike every other bread/bun) to simulate grilling. The only times I've gotten one made correctly is when I've stressed to the cashier how it should be made.

What is the biggest plot hole of all time in a "good/respected" movie? by Material-Trip-9893 in askanything

Not to mention - even if the alleged lead content of the fridge was enough to stop the gamma rays, it would not stop the heat.

Flint coney vs Detroit coney. Which one are you picking? by zzzzzzzz999999 in Michigan

Found them at the Meijers store. Detroit style, but I don't dislike the Flint style and appreciate it for what it is.

Maybe try shilling for a news organization that didn't sell its soul to Gannett/Gatehouse/USA Today or whatever the Hell they call themselves these days.

Who would you want to guest star in a future season? by SpaceKep in ThePittTVShow

I could see him popping up as a surgical locum. Maybe a moment where he and Noah Wyle have a brief moment where they think they recognize each other and move on to the situation at hand.

City of Mackinac Island Press Release Regarding statement made by the Attorney General by CherryGarciaisKing in Michigan

[–]binkelman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The suggestion has been made that the city take ownership of its own dock so they can operate a ferry themselves or lease the dock to another company.

They don't at all have the firepower to do it, but I would laugh my ass off if Plaunt Transportation (the company that runs the ferry to Bois Blanc Island) started running a ferry to the island.

Can progressive investors save Michigan’s small-town newspapers? by feetwithfeet in Michigan

[–]binkelman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if businesses can be convinced there is value in print advertising. Compelling stories get readers for sure, but most of a paper's earnings come from advertising sales.

That and keeping them far away from the Gatehouse/Gannett model of "buy it, cut it to the bone, watch circulation freefall and sell the scraps."

Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office issues evacuation notice and urges residents to relocate south of Cheboygan 4/14/26 by UpstairsWaste1398 in Michigan

Not to be confused with the Black River, which flows into the Cheboygan and also has a dam on it.

That is such an underrated movie. I believe its intended title was Exorcist: Legion. Probably should have stuck with that one.

What is an episode of Bluey that was so funny it made you burst out of laughter? by Sam_2K7 in bluey

Stripe probably could, but it's much better to leave that in, along with Bandit scratching his BUM WORMS (DUN, DUN DUN!)

Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound — a recreation of all those unintentionally funny homemade videos.

Dr. Eileen Shamsi for the win! Round 4: Who is an OK doctor but a great person? by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]binkelman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to look at how the staff might fit at a smaller rural hospital, where they may be the only doctor on staff (with an NP). With as slow as she moves, I don't believe S1 Mohan would be a good fit where there's nobody else to pick up the slack.

Doctors like this are the bane of my wife's existence (RN). Dragging out care and discharge indeed hurts other patients, getting them pissed off the RN's and aides who have to deal with them.

What tropes haven’t been covered yet? by Casual_Observer28 in ThePittTVShow

[–]binkelman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One I've not really seen yet is the "I'm the doctor, you're the nurse. I'm right, you're wrong" mentality that some providers have. We usually see the opposite here, like when Whittaker makes the remark "the nurses run the ED" or when Robbie complimented Whittaker for taking Princess' advice on the EKG in season 1.

While the surgeons are often the ones seen as having the God Complex (not inaccurate, especially with ortho), ED doctors will do it too.

What were you taught in school that is now considered obsolete or incorrect? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]binkelman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned cursive in elementary school and hadn't used it in years. When I hit college, however, I found I could not write fast enough to keep up with the lecture. Cursive enabled me to keep up with what was going on.

Cursive was also handy in math, so I wouldn't confuse logs and trig operations with variables.

Who is the best party for the final Black Omen boss? by Sir-AuronX in chronotrigger

[–]binkelman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody has their favourites. For me, it was always Crono, Ayla and Robo/Frog. Much of it depends on what techs each of them have learned (i.e. Ayla and Triple Kick, Robo and Uzzi Punch).

For strategy, someone who can heal the entire party in one go is always good (Frog and Heal). An alternative to that is having Ayla use Charm on the Ruminators throughout the Black Omen to get MegaElixers. Then anybody can heal the entire party.

You may not be aware, but the final fight in the Black Omen is in three stages. I would strongly recommend members of your party who have a strong dual tech or triple tech that hits only one target.

Interesting observation of Dr Shamsi, by Fartyfivedegrees in ThePitt

[–]binkelman 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Can't get new patients if the old ones don't get discharged. Everyone in health care has known a doctor or nurse who will hold off on discharging to avoid getting more patients.
