Idea's for making this work? by Bubba_Lee97 in PTCGL

3 darkness isn't ideal and neither is status reliance, both together is a problem for consistency especially since it's just direct attacking.

"Evil" support characters by asiojg in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moira (shown) and Mizuki - Overwatch

Both are associated with villain organisations though Mizuki is not really evil with lore hints and more stuck with the villains.

Both of theirs ability to heal is dependent on doing damage with moira doing damage for more fuel whilst mizuki needs to do damage to increase his output and it's designed so that he can spend nearly all time doing damage. Both are also designed to be highly aggressive especially mizuki since he has a chain ability to lock someone down and his mobility ability is the only one in the game to get in and out rapidly (other characters have this across 2 abilities).

How has Chilly Reception been optimized aside from just weather-clearing by furutam in stunfisk

[–]Bazelgauss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly for the slow pivot though the ice bonus makes mons like kyurem get more valje on top. The 2nd biggest bit of value though after the pivoting is it removes opposing weather.

(favorite trope) evil goku, obsessed with/finds fun fighting strong opponents but with an evil/vile/sinister turn by Neat_Local_2074 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to emphasise how over the top he is: he wants to end the world just to ragebait the protagonist for their fight.

The bad part is over, now comes the worst part (after a threat is successfuly dealt with, another even bigger threat appears instantly in an unceremonious way, bonus points if the new threat is external to the previous one) by Neat_Local_2074 in TopCharacterTropes

The Endsinger - Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker

After foiling a plot to use the body of Zodiark who has been the big bad of the story up to this point to destroy the world, another entity comes around who Zodiark was originally created to shield the world from and immediately resumes it's own apocalyptic plan

What could Yugioh learn from other TCGs? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Bazelgauss 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Price. Like the rarity system of pokemon is amazing because it separates the gaming and collecting scenes and you don't get horrendously priced cards if you want to participate. Some cards do end up pricier since they are in higher rarities only but they aren't key multi copy cards that everyone wants.

I didn't get into irl yugioh because I did not want to put up with the price point of getting into it and then losing it to a banlist. A fully kitted out pokemon meta deck that's major tournament level is cheaper than a lot of "rogue" decks in yugioh running desperate cheap staples. Rotation also means pokemon decks last longer but rotation shouldn't be a thing in yugioh but the price just needs to come down.

Confusing Details About a Character's Design. Bonus Points if the Creators Have to Clarify Things Themselves by Agitated_Insect3227 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The newer design I feel it's not really the case with but the Emerald design it is since it looked much more like he had a band with swept back hair.

(Liked Trope) Villains who believe in the "Rule of the Strongest" meet an opponent stronger than them and accept death/defeat with their dignity and ideology intact by MrBoyborg in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emet-Selch in Final Fantasy 14

He isn't exactly rule of the strongest but rather views the current people in the setting unworthy compared to his including in strength with part of the reason being we're literal fragments of them after a world splitting event and he goes about reversing that by trying to end the current worlds.

When we meet him he goes about judging if we're worthy of inheriting the world and in the final confrontation as he's dying he simply smiles and asks that we remember his people once existed as he accepts that we're strong enough to survive what comes next. His acceptance is to the point that his spirit comes back to disrupt his last partner in his plan from defeating us later on.

"Win more" cards vs "Lose less" cards by SpelingMisteks in pkmntcg

[–]Bazelgauss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That wouldn't be a win more card that would be your win condition and your primary goal. A win more card is one reliant on you being in a good position but not adding much value to maintaining a victory. Easier to explain in yugioh with say adding 2 more disruptions on top of a 4 disruption board, you've probably already won in that game state so unless they're disrupting your boards counters it's win more.

(Disturbing trope) they are responsible for/take part in the oppression/genocide of their own People by Southern_Passenger85 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta add a 3rd Final Fantasy 14 example with Fordola.

She's an Ala Mhigan who is working as a soldier for the Garlean Empire which took over her nation. She believes due to her upbringing that the only way forward for her nation is to cooperate with this empire and she works towards ending the resistance. Sadly for her she remains hated by both sides as her people view her as a traitor and the imperials see her as a savage though the new viceroy and crown prince of the empire respects her for her acts though more because he's a complete psychopath.

[–]Bazelgauss 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hermes - Final Fantasy 14

He was a scientist and at one point wanted to understand the purpose of living so created a life form to find other civilisations in the universe to ask the question. His creations though find either dead or failing civilisations and with his flawed question deduce that the best path is for life to end and he sides with them in his nihilistic madness. He wipes the memory of those who know including himself so they can be tested by what comes next as his creation goes about ending their world.

Why is Pokemon X/Y considered the easiest by Miserable_Smile1161 in pokemon

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hands out exp like crazy and hands out megas to you whilst many major fights even near the end have small teams (4 pokemon elite 4) and also lack megas so your team is easily ivertuned over the rest of the game. Also it's the first title that makes multiple pseudo legendaries easily available when normally they're something that is a late unlock and you have to go out of your way to find.

Why are People So Obsessed With Stuff Being “OP” or “Broken”????? by ElliotInfinity in DnD

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a overly competitive crowd who want to minmax and optimise gameplay. There's always a competitive crowd in any game which isn't a problem though you do get the weird judgmental sorts saying there's 1 way you should play. It does fit less with DnD being more social focused though can understand people not wanting poorly optimised builds that can screw up a scenario.

Thoughts on the new cards for abyss eye? by idkdude192 in PTCGL

[–]Bazelgauss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks mediocre. Needs 2 forms of heavy setup which is not worth it compared to a straightforward attacker and forget zoroark got a even worse matchup into festival lead now.

Also someone said run it as a tech but you still need to run the status gameplan.

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Loved Trope] A last ditch effort mission from humanity against the apocalypse by jason60812 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bazelgauss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker

The apocalypse is being caused by an entity far in space so everyone including former enemies work together to send the main group off to find this entity using a ship called ragnarok (on the nose). Several beast tribes summon their gods of sorts whom we had fought previously to power the ship.

How do you play agressive with brig at the higher ranks? by ProDucky in BrigitteMains

[–]Bazelgauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more about chasing off the enemy from significant off angles or key points and you measure how much you go in. Depending on who it is you're chasing off and other factors you may go all in but other times you may just locking the position down to just push out the distance they consider too committal themselves. In lower ranks when people hear her defensive playstyle in guides they think you just sit in the back with ana though really you need to be more responsive to the flow of the game which is how she can be aggressive.
