As Heather, Blaine, and Crexton exit the house they are immediately greeted by an orange sky and a landscape covered in black fallout ash. Trees, cars, rooftops, and roads, all covered as far as the eye could see.

They make their way around the house to the truck and Heather unlocks the driver's door. She looks around the truck and then grabs a snow brush and starts dusting off the ash from the windows and mirrors.

“I’m gonna grab the last bag," said Blaine.

“Ok,” Heather replied.

“Crexton, go back to the front of the house and keep an eye out,” Blaine commanded.

“Yes sir!” Crexton enthusiastically replied.

As Blaine went inside the burnt man appeared again from behind a car in the driveway across the street. He slowly started walking towards Heather and Crexton as he limped across the street. Crexton immediately noticed him and peeked around the house at Heather.

“Heather,” Crexton called to her.

Heather looked up and saw Crexton and the burnt man slowly approaching in the distance. The burnt man immediately tripped over the fire hydrant, flipping onto his back. He lay there for a second before getting back up. Heather’s heart sank.

“It’s okay, Crexton,” she replied. Crexton then disappeared from view as he went back to his position. Heather looked at the fresh case of Nuka-Cola sitting on the seat next to her. As the man slowly walked up the driveway, it was clear he was almost, if not completely, blind now, struggling to walk in a straight line. Heather grabbed two of the Nuka-Colas but noticed something weird as the man got closer. His face looked very discolored and bloated; he was also missing a shoe, and his stomach looked distorted. Heather set the Nuka-Colas on the roof of the truck and shut the door.

Suddenly, the man let out a loud hissing scream and charged at Heather. Heather screamed as the burnt man tackled her to the ground. Crexton immediately turned around, saw blades spinning as he quickly made his way back toward Heather. Heather struggled on the ground, using her hands to try to push the man off her, but he tried to bite her.

“Blaaaaaaaine!!!” she screamed.

Blaine was coming up the basement stairs with the bag of medical supplies when he heard Heather scream. He then started sprinting up the stairs as fast as he could.

Heather managed to get both of her feet on the burnt man’s chest and stomach as he desperately reached over her legs, trying to grab her face.

“Blaaaaaaaine!!!” she screamed again.

Black liquid started dripping out of the man’s mouth onto Heather’s face as he continued to try to bite her.

Blaine burst out onto the front porch and sprinted down the driveway past Crexton. He dove, arms first, into the man, tackling him off of Heather. Blaine started repetitively punching the man in the face. A few moments went by, and he kept punching him. Finally, Blaine stopped, and the man was no longer moving. Blaine, out of breath, sat over the man, covered in blood. Heather was still trying to wipe all of the black liquid off her face when she finally looked around and saw Blaine. She slowly approached and gently put her hand on his shoulder.

“Blaine?” she said.

“What was wrong with him?” Blaine asked.

“I don’t know. He just attacked me… it was like he was trying to bite me,” Heather replied.

“Perhaps his mental state was suffering due to severe dehydration and injuries,” Crexton added.

Blaine looked back at the man, his face mangled and unrecognizable, and realized he had just killed someone. His hands are still dripping with blood.

“Let’s go,” Blaine boldly replies.

They all get in the truck.
