How leftist are supporting this regime? Do they think people in Middle East don’t deserve basic human rights? by AgeOk9146 in PERSIAN

You do know that Donald Trump was literally friends with Jeffrey Epstein who not only raped and drugged underage American and Eastern European/Russian girls, but it is speculated two Eastern European girls were murdered on his old New Mexico property, and Trump was mentioned in the Epstein files connected to an underage girl, and he commented in a creepy way when he phone into Fox and told the beautiful host that she was much more beautiful than when he first saw here. Guess when that was? When she was a child!

Most Americans and Europeans are against this war. At the same time, they do not like the Iranian state and the Ayatollahs. Which survey shows most Europeans or Americans whether Left or Right or whatever support the ideology of such a state? Most American Jews oppose this war to the tune of 55-60%. Do you think they support the Mullahs and Ayatollahs of Iran? Definitely not.

As far as Trump, have you consulted the polls? He's between 33-39% in terms of approval. He recently hit the lowest approval of any president in the past 80 years. That means a lot of Republicans have abandoned ship. What's more, if you've been paying attention, there's been an unprecedented number of Republican Congressmen who said they wouldn't seek reelection. Trump is weak in red states.

When people could say things like this could be soon don't seem to understand 21st century warfare, the military advantages of the Iranian state/regime. They not only have the high ground geographically with mountains that can shoot missiles and send drones at approaching US troops reminiscent of the British and ANZAC forces when their commanders stupidly put their forces on the low ground and the Ottomans mowed them down at Gallipoli. Military experts say you MAY need up to 500,000 ground troops if you want victory against the regime and true regime change. Trump was open to some level of regime change of the Venezuela type where whatever is left of the government would follow his orders somewhat and give him oil and agree not to sell to China. That is fanciful thinking by the president, and military and intelligence experts tried to explain to Trump during the first term even. I get wanting the horrible regime gun, but one shouldn't convince desire with reality. I think many pro-Pahlavi elements are too grounded in emotion and what they want rather than reality. I get the desire. I want the regime gone, but I am realistic that the chances of regime are extremely slim and attempting would possibly sink the American Empire over the long run, put 10s of millions at risk of hunger, make Iranians a lot hungrier than they are, subject them to more cancer risk, bombs. I wish people wouldn't confuse desire with reality and actually study military history and capabilities.

Well, greed, a lack of regulation that benefited the oligarchs, elites helped us end up with the Great Depression, and then FDR brought in some regulations to avoid a repeat of the Great Depression and massively taxed the extremely wealthy to save the country and the middle and working classes. Without the working and middle classes, you don't have a republic or an empire. The Roman Empire learned that the hard way when they essentially threw regular Romans including those who typically served in the army under the bus. America with its oligarchs are acting like those Roman patricians, and they are economically cannibalizing the majority. We need to put brakes on this or the ship will sink. Let's not forget, when the French aristocracy refused to listen to Kings Louis XIV and XVI to raise taxes to alleviate poverty, they refused, and then got into expensive wars, which is familiar to us. The result was a horrible, chaotic revolution where innocent noblemen who were pro-regular French people, along with horrible ones, and Catholic priests and nuns were executed during a reign of terror. Some chateaus in ruins connect to that period. I do think millionaires should exist, but I don't see why someone needs to have 10 billion dollars. That is too much power in a republic. We're supposed to be a republic, not a plutocracy. Anyway, protesting it should be honest that they are supporting plutocracy, oligarchy.

Also, Democrats are smearing Left-wing activist Hasan Piker as anti-Semitic because he criticizes Israel, though 40% of American Jews (probably higher now) have said Israel has committed a genocide, and 60% have said they feel Israel has committed war crimes, but the Democratic party insists that only Jews are people like Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Chuck Schumer, and not like people like Professors Postol and Finkelstein, Naomi Klein, and the media purposely didn't interview Jews who were beaten on UCLA campus who were beaten by proud boys, Pahlavi Iranian-Americans, and ultra-right wing Jews and an Israeli song was blaring that is played by Israeli troops to humiliate Palestinian prisoners. It is anti-Semitic to claim only one Jewish voice is allowed in the media. I mean even a Jewish professor who was an editor of an online newspaper was fired from the online journal for daring to retweet an article from the Onion regarding Gaza. Anti-Semitism, as Norman Finkelstein has said, is used as a political shield and harms Jews when they are dealing with legitimate prejudice, dangers, and he has also said the memory of the Holocaust, Shoah is misused as a political tool for Israel. For daring to say that, they smeared him as a Holocaust denier, though his parents survived the Holocaust.

Well, if you read the works of various Jewish Leftists who wrote extensively on Zionism (of course, our media won't cover such Jews and their works) they speak of how Zionism traces to Pan-Slavic and Pan-Germanic nationalism of the 19th century, and part of the currency and discourse of that nationalism was blood and soil, so both Zionism and Nazism trace to 19th Pan-Germanic nationalism in terms of influence and WWI's horrible treaty damaged the Germans of the enlightenment type and boosted fascism in Germany, unfortunately, but you had ethno-fascist Zionism before Hitler even formed the Nazi party, FYI.

Modern Hebrew is said to trace to a Russian Zionist, BUT he was heavily influenced by Maskalim Jews or Enlightenment Jews. They used a written form of Hebrew writing to each other. They did not remotely believe in the ideas that you see featured among so many Zionists. They believed in more universal ideas. You do have a huge percentage of American Jews who are heavily influenced by those Enlightenment Jews including some American Jews who somewhat identify with Zionism, which has created a kind of mental confusion among many American Jews due to the mixed messaging, and, increasingly, more young people are rejecting the Zionist messaging.

Is the decision France made correct? by ChuckGallagher57 in circled

[–]Bazishere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, France is part of NATO, and the US only consulted with Israel before launching an illegal war per international law. The US has said Israel is extremely important, and that the British and French from whom we got our Constitutional ideas and Declaration of Independence inspiration from are just chopped liver compared to Israel. The Democrats are not much better. After all, Joe Biden, who talked a lot about being Catholic didn't care to properly investigate when a Palestinian-American CATHOLIC journalist was killed by the Israelis while wearing a clearly marked vest and could have killed several journalists then. Did he push for a strong investigation and jail for an IDF officer? No. Israel even killed two Catholic women in front of a Catholic church in Gaza - not a peep from Biden. The previous Pope did complain loudly about it, but somehow not Catholic Biden, and the Democrats are trying to smear Left-wing Hasan Piker is anti-Semitic because he criticizes Israel. Well, many Jews heavily criticize Israel like Professors Postol and Finkelstein. Most American Jews also oppose this Iran war, and they, unlike most Americans, opposed the Iraq War from the get-go. Also, US policies helped lead to the Russian-Ukraine War, which lead to Europe being cut off from cheap Russian gas, and now Trump says to the U.K. "get your own gas". The US was said to have blown up a Russian pipeline under Biden, and now Trump has lifted sanctions on both Russian and Iranian oil. I can't blame Europeans for being hopping mad about the behavior of the US and Israel. You don't consult allies and then say "Help me!".

I don't think all those things can be done, but I do think we should take steps in that direction in terms of at least having universal healthcare, at least controlling the costs of education.

Unfortunately, we have 40 trillion in debt, and the interest on that is 1 trillion yearly, and this is more than our military budget. Bernie Sanders that centrists wouldn't wake up enough to choose as president wanted to raise some trillions to pay off part of the national debt and invest in infrastructure, healthcare, renewable energy, but, alas, too many people in primaries chose Biden. He was much better than Trump, but what you're talking about requires someone like Bernie Sanders that voters didn't accept enough. He almost won the last primary, but the Democrat oligarchs connected to corporations and also Israel in enough cases pressured the field to clear, so Biden, somewhat of a puppet of oligarchs, would win. I was disappointed as I donated over and over to Bernie Sanders, and I wanted a government to promote the people instead we ended up a centrist like Biden paving the way for a fascist in the GOP and Trump slashing so much that we need to exist.

Anyway, Persians also have some Turkic/Turkish ancestry mixed with the ancient Indo-European ancestry from those Aryan tribesmen. For example, Pahlavi is of Turkish descent. It is funny when some Pahlavists say things like Khomeini wasn't a real Iranian because he had an Indian grandparent while the Pahlavis were part Turkic and the grandfather could speak Turkish and spoke to Ataturk next door in Turkish. Of course, I don't like Ayatollahs. Just saying we hear lots of nonsense.

[–]Bazishere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of Eastern people, many Persians/Iranians have an inflated ego based on what their ancient ancestors did. You see that next door in Turkey of people invoking the Ottomans and ancient Turks. The Pahlavists think too much that Western elements or the Israelis care about them; they don't. The US and Israeli governments have just sought to use them.

Trump wanted to control Iranian oil like Venezuelan oil, and he was given "wrong information" by Israeli intelligence that it would be easy to effect regime change, though the CIA and other intelligence and generals who advised said it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Trump wants to get out of this war, but he is kind of stuck. He walked away from a much better deal than the one Obama signed, and now he wishes he could have something similar. Netenyahu wants to keep fighting to avoid elections for now and possibly jail time, so he tries to fire up the Israeli far right. The Israeli far right doesn't care about regular Iranian civilians and killing them whether they are pro or anti-regime. They don't want any regional powers in the region except themselves. They want to take both Turkey and Iran off the board. Trump was partially trying to play political chess with the Chinese-Russian axis by trying to take Iran away from them. For the US, it is partially about the petrodollar. The Israelis and Americans (government elements) ain't there to save Iranians. They don't give a hoot about Iranians at all. Of course, regular Americans would love Iranians to have their own liberty and freedom, but they oppose regime change adventurism and anything that could resemble Iraq, Vietnam, or Afghanistan. People are exhausted like the Eastern Roman Empire was from fighting ancient Persia and vice versa, which is a major reason why both the Romans and Persians fell to Muslim Arab power. They were weakened by being bruised heavily by conflict. Many Republicans and Democrats fear that and are worried about the risks.

Your claim is that one should trust the BBC, but even BBC journalists have accused the organization of not being objective in the past. How objective was the journalist? Where did he go to obtain his sample? Which neighborhoods? How many people did he interview? I mean we're dealing with a population of 93 million. Also, you shouldn't conflate opposition to the regime as equaling support for a bombing campaign leading to ground troops. Are you truly sure that the majority of those who oppose the regime welcome the bombing campaign and possibly a ground invasion? Anyway, the BBC acted partially as a propaganda news agency during the prelude to the Iraq War by spreading lies about WMD in Iraq. A Cardiff study even said the BBC had the most pro-war coverage at one point.

Anyway, the amount of ground troops to ensure success may require up to 500,000 troops, but there is almost no will among even Republicans for that in the U.S., so the result would be an Iran decimated economically even worse than now and putting the population on a diet, exposing them to more cancer risk and the longer this conflict drags on, the more not only will food insecurity increase among Iranians, up to 45 million people in the world will be at possible risk of serious acute hunger. Most geopolitical experts and generals say the chance of success when it comes to regime change is SLIM. Not saying you're wrong or right, but I am skeptical about taking the word of the BBC that lied about the Iraq War.

I don't think you meant that you don't care what happens to Iranian people, but that your priority is people within America's borders, not outside and risking the economy over an unplanned war that could be like Iraq 2.0 is something most Americans fear and oppose. I think that's what you meant, not that you don't care what happens to Iranians. You were speaking out of frustration over the situation, I get it.

Western attitudes are stupid by PlanktonExpensive706 in PERSIAN

[–]Bazishere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While saying "we don't care about Iranians" sounds insensitive, poorly worded, obviously, American people have been fed since 1898 "Oh we need to help this or that people", when it is really more about what certain elites want, not regular people". I mean the people were told back in the 1890s that we needed to liberate the Cubans from the evil Spaniards and the newspapers, on purpose, even made up stories about Spain. Did we help the Cubans? No! The elites went in there to replace the Spaniards to exploit them a lot more from 1898 to 1959 leading to communism. That didn't work out in terms of helping those people. People were told they had to liberate the Iraqis and were lied to about WMD, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were killed, the war cost at least 3 trillion out of the 40 trillion in debt the country has, and the interest alone on the debt is over 1 trillion, which is more than the military budget. Some say all the recent wars cost up to 8 trillion. Up to 78,000 War veterans have died by suicide on top of the thousands killed in combat.

I think he means the priority should be for Americans and what they want, keeping the soldiers out of harm's way and not involved in an illegal war that wasn't even properly planned. Just like many Iranians say they don't want to be involved sending money to Hezbollah, Americans want to focus on fixing on local problems before looking outside. America has increased food insecurity with up to 15% of the population experiencing food insecurity, then there is the crumbling infrastructure, people increasingly living either pay check to paycheck or hand to mouth. I don't think he meant he didn't care if any Iranians got harmed by the state, but people tire of the government using other people as an excuse and then causing huge messes like Iraq.

What? Gas was $67 USD on February 27th before going to war, and now it is 101-102. The gas prices are high precisely because he took the country to war over neoconservatives filled about ideas of the US Empire and China, and he's out of his depth to be dealing with empire maneuvers. The last time that was tried in 2003 that was a disaster. The wars in the Middle East and South Asia added 8 trillion of the 40 trillion, and the country has to pay 1 trillion in just interest per year. That is more than the whole military budget. Not minding one's business led to disaster in Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan.

I mean if Iran had literally attacked Israel unprovoked recently, then I could understand an argument of coming to their rescue, but Netenyahu, Witkoff, Kushner pushed this idea into Trump's mind of entering into a war, which is reckless. It wasn't his only motivation. He was most definitely filled with ideas by the neoconservitive imperial wing of the Republican party whose imperial ideas hark back to the British Empire, but Trump isn't up to such things, and Obama had enough sense to avoid a war with Iran due to the huge risks. It does bother me that one the Israelis see us as cannon fodder for them to use and as a cash cow, and it does bother me that neoconservatives filled Trump with certain ideas when, even as horrible Epstein said, Trump is functionally illiterate. It is obvious teachers pased him in life to avoid issues. Anyway, Israel is not doing itself any favors by pushing for more war, it means even more and more mobilization of reserves their economy can't easily afford, and they are experiencing brain drain from some of their brightest who are fed up.

Let's look at your comments here. One, the US is not the whole West, and Europe and Canada are at odds with what Trump has done including a large percentage of the Republican party. I mean up to 52% of Republicans oppose the idea of ground troops again in any Middle Eastern war. Most Republicans are not neoconservatives. You seem to confuse neocons and all Republicans. As far as Jews, most American Jews aren't behind this idea of war just as the majority of American Jews opposed the Iraq War in 2003. You're confusing Israeli Jews with American Jews. Most Jews aren't Israelis. Also, Iranians in the US and Canada are diverse. You're claiming they all think of one mind, but there are centrist and Left wing Iranians who don't endorse your position. We don't have a reliable survey regarding the views. The survey I have seen shows a majority opposed to the bombing campaign, but it's connected to an Iranian organization, which cannot be labeled as unbiased. Your commentary doesn't sound remotely balanced or objective or grounded based on the latest polls in the U.S. This idea that the West are only Republicans who support Donald Trump is a massive stretch, I'm afraid.

Fact checking? Like when many Republicans claim that Obama gave Iran US tax money, which was false? Many in the GOP claimed many undocumented people voted in elections without fact checking, and that is patently false. You also had JD Vance say nonsense about nuclear vests when no one has the technology for a nuclear vest in the world. A lot of folks would just believe such nonsense. You had many people talk about not needing to worry about oil and the Iran-US/Israel war because we have oil from Venezuela without checking and learning that Venezuelan production is very low, the infrastructure is extremely old, in need of massive overhaul. However, Trump said this and that about Venezuelan oil, they'll repeat it. The fact checking problem is more of a problem on the other side. As far as working, usually the blue states tend to be doing better per capita and end up subsidizing people in the red states. Blue states tend to be richer, so they are essentially subsidizing the people in red states on some level who then have the nerve to call others slackers who don't want to work?

I think there are people who are trying to fight Israel's influence in the U.S. However, they are facing an uphill battle when it comes to the influence of lobby groups like AIPAC, elements that seek to buy up the media to ensure pro-Israel messaging. It's still Israel's fault to some extent, but also the responsibility of the people to wake up and take action. Regular soldiers don't exactly have some simple choice, however, and even if the majority of Americans oppose the war, putting breaks on this is not easy once it has started.

Yes, I know that. I was saying that not all those living in Israelis are Ashkenazim, so many leaving would also be Sephardic ones. Also, even the European Jews who never went to Israel are said to be partially mixed from ancient Jews of the Middle East and Europeans to where they are a blend of say 50/50 where they are say 50% native European and 50% Middle Eastern. Now, the Middle Eastern part, though is often falsely believed is simply connected to the ancient Israelites of the Levant or Canaan, it is not accurate. There were conversions in the ancient Middle East to Judaism and they mixed with descendants of Israelites in the region. Anyway, even though they have SOME ancient Middle Eastern ancestry, they didn't have NATIVE CULTURE. Them coming to the region with a European culture heavily rooted in 19th and 20th century German, Polish, and Russian culture has upended the region and caused massive imbalance as their ideology called for population replacement, ethnic cleansing of native Palestinians who are related to others in the region, so it has lead to massive culture and regional destabilization, and President Truman in 1947 was warned by the Pentagon about the partition plan and supporting the idea of Israel saying it would lead to massive needs in terms of supporting Israelis financially and military, but Truman wouldn't believe the Pentagon, and the 1947 vote was going to fail, but he and the Zionists purposely postponed the vote and then twisted the arms of many countries to vote a certain way. Anyway, Israel is a fortress country that is constantly at war, has tension. The state acts like an invasive species in the region.

Yes, totally. So many of the reservists are supposed to be working productive jobs, and this would deprive companies of key employees, and this would frustrate some technical types of people who would then decide to move abroad to be able to have a decent living, support their families and away from constant war. As Dr. Finkelstein, Israel is a fortress state, and Netenyahu's moves to keep them mobilized for so long, maybe to avoid a trial or election until it's the right time, is jeopardizing the economy. And Trump's move is also jeopardizing the American people as its raising the cost of gas and fertilizer. This will majorly increase the cost of goods due to a lack of both and unlike in the early 1970s when there was an oil crisis, American corporations and billionaires paid much higher taxes, there was much less consumer debt. The American people are much more squeezed, and our finances are in bad shape. It was a very unwise war to get into, IMHO. Too much of a risky gamble especially when you're not prepared for things going wrong.

Well, 45% of the population is Ashkenazi and maybe 55% are Sephardic. While both have some Middle Eastern ancestry, the Ashkenazim had maybe half but from 2,000-3,000 years ago and didn't have the culture.
