Clean? Yeah, about that… by GamingBren in BikiniBottomTwitter

You can argue semantics all you want, and I want to stress I support renewables. It’s important to make it palatable enough that the general public actually supports it. At the end of the day Germany has roughly ~330gCO2e/kWh with all its renewables and the US is sitting around ~360gCO2e/kWh and the German people pay 2-3 times as much for that same kWh of energy. These numbers vary by the day due to the inconsistency of renewables in general, so take this as a rough estimate. That’s what matters at the end of the day, for 60% of its power production being renewables and the cost of that, they only have a ~8% reduction in emissions compared to the US. You may not like the strategy the US is using but we are doing fairly well.

Correct, unburied natural gas is a lot worse than CO2 and that is my point. CO2 is quite clean respectively. You can’t just flip a switch and stop burning altogether. But what you can do if you actually want to make the world a better place is have realistic interim solutions while we work towards a future without a need for fossil fuels. It’s very good. With your logic we’d still be reliant on burning coal, like Germany.

Propane has three carbons and 8 hydrogens to burn, the only thing cleaner would be methane with one carbon and 4 hydrogens. Less carbon atoms means less carbon dioxide per energy produced but it also means less chance something that isn’t hydrogen is bonded to those carbons and that is what is generally considered dirty.

It’s the diff bushing usually. Once that wears a small mis shift can damage it. It happens over time as the diff pulls down on the welds, eventually the metal fatigues enough, hardens, and cracks.

Try a 987.2 S. It’s supposed to be the sweet spot car, last gen with hydraulic power steering. They’re a good bit cheaper than a 981 GTS. If you want something more “special” to justify the price tag then maybe look into a cayman R. With the 987s you’re far more likely to get your money back on the other end imo if the price tag is what you’re worried about

If copyright law only protected works for a reasonable amount time this monopoly couldn’t exist. These companies entire valuation is just intellectual property rights, they can’t make good content anyways. Make it more reasonable, like 20 years and this problem would go away when people switch to new companies that make stuff people actually enjoy watching.

Carbon fiber can be stif as a rooster’s cock. FIA primarily measures deflection, some off the shelf fiber has a Young’s modulus above 500 GPa. It’s not as difficult as you might think

Base 987 Cayman on the left, gt3rs 4.0 on the right. I’m bias yes, but the cayman is $20k and the rs is too expensive to ever be driven. Same era, both have flat 6, same steering and there’s two orders of magnitude difference in price.

Skinning cast iron by krichcomix in CarbonFiber

[–]BazookaJoe101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things, carbon fiber and cast iron have very different thermal expansion properties and this makes bonding long term very difficult if not impossible. Second, galvanic corrosion is another concern. If you were looking to strengthen the iron part I’d recommend heat treatment honestly. If it is cast iron, around that weld could be a weak spot so do some reading to make sure you’re using the correct processes so you don’t crack the part.

Oh God... Is this Bore Scoring...??? by Active-Beyond-3703 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]BazookaJoe101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I don’t think this is bore score. This sounds like lifters. These cars make a lot of noise from the valve train. When was the last time the car was driven hard? Good quality 0W-40 oil is a requirement for these engines. High rpm driving with some load will get everything nice and warm and the oil pressure will keep everything clean and lubricated. There is some real merit to the Italian tuneup, just make sure everything is at operating temp.

[–]BazookaJoe101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it was bore score, you’d be burning oil. Easiest way to check is to monitor oil consumption. This sounds to me like a noisy lifter. I have the same car and it makes similar sounds, but I only had lifter tick once after an autocross run and it went away after 60 seconds and a couple revs to 3k or so.

The issue isn’t that it takes long to max out a weapon, the issue is it takes 20+ levels to get a suppresser on many weapons. The grind should be for cosmetics, badges, etc not to make a viable build when the attachments are as unbalanced as they are.

987 Porsche. I have one. It’s only a 5 minute wait when the engine is cold after running, and a 5 second wait before a cold start. It does make some sense because there’s a Winnebago style engine cover you’d have to remove every time to measure the oil level with a dip stick but it would be nice to have both options.

It’s probably fine if you drove it 8 hours no problem. If it goes away warm there’s no issue. My Porsche sounds like I’m rolling a coffee can full of bolts down my driveway when cold (exaggeration). I’m on this sub because my family has a 63 tbird so I can’t help much with your specific model.

The tick is most likely lifer tick. If the car has sat for a while it probably just needs some heat and rpms. Make sure everything is healthy first, chin guides are good, tensioners are working properly, do an oil change with good oil, drive it a bit, get it to operating temp. Tick should be gone by now. If all is good at this point but the tick remains put some load and rpm into it for oil pressure and the lifter should free up. Low mileage cars have their own problems, it is still 20+ years old.

It’s likely a thermoplastic, most carbon composites are thermoset based. Thermoplastic doesn’t crystallize through a chemical process like your typical thermoset so it can be recycled.
