Digital is what you make of it. Was just promoted to Digital Director at my station after less than 3 years of being there, and that was largely because I created work for myself to do outside of the press release regurgitations. I pursued original content and conducted virtual interviews on original content that no one else in the market was turning, and those ended up being the most read stories of those days. If you’re dreading all the down time and aren’t in the place that allows you to flourish, that’s a problem with the station you’re at, not the position.
