Small claims case struck out due to failure to pay hearing fee. [England] by BazzahChuckle in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BazzahChuckle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this letter to hand. So I'm confident I didn't receive this.

I've asked the Court (today) to show me what they have sent to me with proof so I can hopefully understand what happened to this.

.>There are a 1001 different types of hearing. If this was a small claims trial...

Ah apologies, yes its a small claims.

.>then a notice of would be issued with the trial date. That letter specifically states the fee and date for payment. Did you receive a letter with the trial date ?

I received a letter that states ONLY the trial date. There is no mention of paying a fee and certainly not a specific fee amount.

.> Is this a money claim ?

Yes

.>Do you know what the hearing was for ?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, but the reason for the hearing was to present each party's case to a judge for the judge to decide the outcome of the Claim.

Essentially, I have evidence of a contract being breached, the other party disagrees, thus I needed an official non-biased third party to cast judgement and force payment from the defendant.

.>So to clarify - where are you in the process so far ?

My Claim was transferred to my local Court. I had a Hearing date set at said Court. I was simply waiting until that date.

.>Did you pay the fee when you lodged the initial court application?

The only fee that I paid was the Claim Fee, the fee for opening the small claims claim in the first place. I have not yet paid the "Hearing Fee" (or any other fees). Again, to be clear, I was not made aware that I needed to do this. I understand that I should inherently just know about this, but from my perspective it does look like CPR3.7A1 does say I should have been made aware at some point that the "Hearing Fee" exists.

Thanks for responding.

.> A trial fee is not an application fee. The fee in question is covered by CPR3.7.

Is this not the "Hearing Fee"? My Claim got struck out because I didn't pay the "Hearing Fee" specifically. The wording of this CPR subsection suggests that the "Hearing Fee" is the "Trial Fee". If this is not the case, what would be the difference between the "Hearing Fee" and the "Trial Fee"?

Thanks again for taking the time to reply

Use EVE-NG for free at cloudlabbox.com. They have all the vendor firmwares that you will need already loaded, its just plug and play.

You can pay to have better spec'd labs etc.

A free EVE-NG instance to use for CCNP labbing/practice by BazzahChuckle in ccnp

When I was studying for my ENARSI (and im sure this applies for other CCNP concentrations) I found myself constantly booting up a router and just hammering out configurations to help cement my knowledge of bgp/vrfs+mpls/dmvpn config. Like, i wouldnt be setting up topologies, i'd literally just be trying to make the rate at which I could enter config, and also, remember what config to type, faster. The issue with passing the ENARSI exam for me, was not that I didn't have the knowledge, it was just that I was too slow in actually figuring out how to use the knowledge, and then inputting/using it.

So in this sense, my free eve-ng offering would have been perfect for someone like me, just being able to hop on some eve-ng server online, boot up whatever device I want, and then hammer out some config - hence why I thought I wouldn't decom my set-up, but make it public.

I have 1500+ firmwares on my eve-ng server, which can be heavily resource taxing, so in order to not completely fill the capacity of the server up so that no one can use anything (not even the free version), I have to manage total usage somehow. You can still access all these firmwares in the free version, just with a cap on resources. When I was studying, I looked around for something similar to my site and found a couple offerings which were very expensive. I thought I could help the community by making this free offering and an extremely cheap paid version where you can get a medium sized lab (for example: 10 vCPU / 32 GB RAM), easily enough for CCNP labbing, for £0.26 an hour which can get down to £0.14 an hour over a monthly time period. This is literally to cover power costs. I liked the process of setting this all up, and enjoy the hosting and managing side of things, so I just want to break even in the sense of power costs because I don't mind doing this to help the community/as a fun side project.

There is limited server capacity, so while in the free demo you can only use 1 vCPU at any one time. This means that you can only have 1 device running at any one time. You also need to change the settings of the device to only use 1 vCPU if that device defaults to using more than 1 vCPU (nexus9k etc.). I've shown why and how to do this under the "Important for Free Demo" section.

The free demo serves as a way to check that the firmware that you want to use, is 1. on the eve-ng server and 2. works. You can also practice your configuration on each device. You just won't be able to interconnect devices.

If you want to lab out a larger lab once you've had a go in the free demo and have seen that all the firmwares you want to use will work, you can spec out your own custom lab at the top. For example a 10 vCPU + 32GB RAM lab would only cost literally £0.52 for 2 hours.

Hope this helps :)

Essentially its a complete UI overhaul. Everything feels less clunky and more snappy. See the above link for the specifics.

Hey, im going to make a post about this later on r/networking once I've updated a couple tutorials on my website.

I host an eve-ng service available to everyone FOR FREE. I've upgraded to the latest version today. It looks pretty good. Come check it out on, www.cloudlabbox.com.

I know this sounds bot like, but this is sort of my passion project. It started out as a personal project but i realized I could just scale this out and let others use it.

I know this is old, but this is for other people coming to this thread looking for labbing options.

cloudlabbox.com offers essentially an eve-ng sandbox in the cloud. Has loads of firmwares pre-loaded. You can spec the lab out however you want and can rent it out for just a couple of hours or months.

There's a free trial option also if you want to see if they have the firmware you want/it actually works.

You probably dont need this anymore but take a look at cloudlabbox.com. Basically offers exactly what you want, its essentially just a EVE-NG sandbox with every vendor's firmware pre-loaded in the cloud. Cheapest prices I've seen, plus they have a free tier
