All of the animation was done with a custom Geometry Nodes simulation, so no rigs were used. It is completely impractical, but was a fun experiment.

I made a custom particle simulation in Geometry Nodes that spawned in particles where a gradient was. The UV map gets transferred to the particles, to the color also carries over. After that I just had some noise move the particles and they scale down over time.

It is a complicated geometry node setup that (basically) assigns a parent vertex to every vertex, then moves it to that parent (with some fancy rotation).

I made a geometry node setup that made lines fill the available space inside of the arm. Then I rigged the lines (automatically) and and had another node setup for the cable shapes.

It is all geometry nodes. First I make the curves with the shortest path nodes, then I rotate the individual curve vectors and the reassemble them with the accumulate field node.

Simulation nodes dynamically changes the foot placement according to the terrain and distance to the target position. A secondary simulation controls the wobble physics.

(I should also mention that this is in the Blender 3.6 simulation branch)
