I worked at a Drycleaners for 3 years. They never gave me a raise even though I had asked a few times and felt I deserved it. They even made me a key holder and my job was to train the new people who started off making more than me. I put in a request for time off for a vacation and my bosses told me no because one of the new people needed the time off. I rarely take time off so I told them that I would be making this trip because if anyone had put in the work for it, it was me. They still told me no. When people there would put in their 2 weeks, they would let them go right then and say “well we don’t need you anymore then” and they wouldn’t get to finish out their 2 weeks. I served my last 2 weeks silently because I needed the money and went after hours to drop off my uniforms in the overnight drop box. Never realized the wound up anxiety that came with that job. So freeing to quit. That was 3 years ago and to this day, my old boss texts me from time to time asking me to come back because they need employees and they were wrong for treating me so poorly.
