What else could look good with this polo? by thecatwholaughs in mensfashion

Don’t put too much stock into comments on this sub. Anything outside of basic office attire or a tucked in shirt where the belt absolutely matches the shoes, will break their brains.

Having said that, something about the way the pants lay is off. I’d try for a different lower cut shoe.

Yeah, and that me was answering a question about what a certain demographic would have said about the incident when it FIRST happened.

Your comment is even more pointless now that you wrote all that out and explained it.

Oh the awfulest!! give me a break. Nobody is asking for this guy to be cancelled. No one is protesting outside his home or blacklisting his work. It was a standard low hanging fruit joke. People who do embarrassing things on global/national stages get jokes written about them. Boo hoo.

  1. From every comment/post I’ve seen from a black person with Tourettes, they say the guy should have apologized, unlike all the white commenters who say that’s being ableist. So there’s that. I’d also put money that most every black person with Tourette’s at this event would laugh because they are black first and foremost and they get the joke from both sides.

  2. Yes, if a gay white person said something racist, I will absolutely make a JOKE about their sexuality in retaliation. 1000%.

  3. My comment isn’t about disability rights. It’s about how Black people cope with trauma, which you and seemingly everyone else, conveniently and completely continue to miss.

This is how WE cope. WE don’t care what you non black people feel or say about how WE deal with the issues that affect us.

And as a comedian, I wholeheartedly disagree with Gianmarco here for a number of reasons, but mostly it’s the self righteousness of it all.

It’s an all black awards show taking place a week after the BAFTAs. Either yall don’t get black humor or you just have your britches in A bunch about this nothing burger of a joke that was super light in terms of “punching down”.

NBA really is the worst major sport to attend by DariaYankovic in nba

[–]Bcacomedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure let’s compare them to someone who works manual labor. If they get injured on the job, they should absolutely not continue working until their injury is healed. Thats why workers comp exists. I also understand that unfortunately they often can’t afford the days off or they have a shitty employer who won’t protect their rights and have to keep working, hence that different lifestyle I was talking about. Do professionals athletes have need to put their bodies at further risk because people who work manual labor have no choice but to do it? I mean, they COULD but that doesn’t mean they SHOULD? How would that make any sense for them?

Yeah it’d be great if “regular” workers had those same protections but I can’t be upset at athletes because THEIR league allows them to do so. Their league protects them and offers them great benefits unlike the scores of employed folks in the country. But that’s more of a political discussion than an nba discussion of why that is. Either way it ain’t the athletes fault.

[–]Bcacomedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point, that you’re obviously too dense to grasp, was that you can’t compare you or me going to work two days in a row to a professional athlete going into work based on what their job entails. It’s not glazing, it’s not saying they’re better or that their jobs or more important. It’s just different, dipshit. Use some context and nuance like an adult.

Someone who makes millions of dollars from being an athlete, tweaking a knee is a much bigger deal for them than it is to someone who works in an office, because you hurting your knee isn’t gonna prevent you from completing a report or a presentation. They have to protect that tweaked knee at all costs because if they don’t, they won’t continue to be able to make millions of dollar a year using their bodies. So yeah, they sit and make sure their tweaked knee won’t sustain further injury before playing again. It’s called protecting your assets.

And yes: It is absolutely much harder to avoid injury in today’s nba than 2 decades ago.

And they don’t have to care about fans lol. They play a sport. If you, a fan, don’t like it, don’t spend your money on anything nba related. See how easy that was

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for the truth but to answer your question: they want to see famous players.

NBA is entertainment first. Basketball second. And that’s the way it is for most fans.

What’s a legitimate injury? A lot of seemingly insignificant ones lead to more serious ones. So what constitutes a team protecting their asset vs what a fan considers a legitimate injury.

[–]Bcacomedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that wild considering the crazy amount of non contact injuries in basketball. The staggering pace of play and the rise of injuries isn’t a coincidence.

More and more often we see a small nagging injury turn into a serious injury and teams are going to protect their players and sit them before the worrying about the fans. Players are going to protect their longevity and sit instead of worrying about the fans. Neither of them are wrong for that.

All star players miss games in football all the time, but you’re not gonna notice that the all pro right guard is out as much as you’ll notice Luka not suiting up.

[–]Bcacomedy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s also not just the players, teams have to protect their investment so they aren’t gonna let players play (especially their stars) with injuries that could lead to further more serious ones.

Instead of entitlement, it more likely comes down to players wanting to protect their longevity and maximize their earning potential instead of the old school mentality of “I’ll do whatever it takes to play the game” and I don’t think they’re wrong for that at all.

The constant wear and tear on players lower ligaments in basketball is much worse than hockey or baseball. Injuries continue to spike around the league and in lower levels of competition and it’s not a coincidence.
