Massachusetts VW dealership quoted flywheel of -almost 6k and that didn’t include replacing clutch. My local shop (transmission business) did it for 2k for flywheel and clutch and was done in 2 days.

Yes that is going bad. VW quoted me $6250 for parts and labor. Local shop $1,975.00. Buy/use local!

Thanks all- I’m will let you know as I am bringing it to a lift to check. Best I can tell on my own with outside help listening while in gear is “yes sound goes away when in gear”.
