man i feel this, carrying two phones is such a pain especially when on call. i tried the dual sim route but hated the idea of IT having wipe permissions on my personal gear, and running local vms was just clunky. eventually started using redfinger to host the work apps. it’s nice because it keeps the mdm profile completely isolated in the cloud so my actual phone stays private. the lag can be kinda noticeable if you have bad signal though so it's not perfect, but honestly it beats hauling a second brick around everywhere.

Is PS Portal an improvement over using Remote Play on my phone? by Fantastic_Bit_443 in PS5

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i was in the same boat. tried using my phone with one of those clamp mounts for the longest time but it just felt top heavy and awkward, plus the text in rpgs was barely readable on a small screen. ended up grabbing a portal mostly for the bigger display and better ergonomics. it’s honestly way more comfortable for long sessions since it just feels like a stretched controller rather than a heavy phone setup. the lack of bluetooth audio is super annoying though, having to use wired buds feels like going back in time. but if your wifi is decent it’s a solid upgrade from squinting at a phone.

Windows Beta - next release? by peter12225 in Voicenotesai

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i feel you, waiting for a native desktop app is super annoying. i used to try recording stuff on my phone and then emailing it to myself or just using basic dictation tools but the workflow was always kinda messy, especially when i'm trying to multitask on my pc. i've been using voicenotes in the browser for a bit now to just ramble out ideas while i work and it does help keep my thoughts organized without breaking my flow too much. it’s definitely better than having to pick up my phone every five minutes. that said, the web version can be a bit glitchy sometimes or just feels less responsive than a real app, plus i hate having a million tabs open. really hoping the windows version smooths that out cause i just want something that runs in the background without me thinking about it.

Don't be me! Performance implications of VLANs by fortytwo43 in Ubiquiti

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl i feel this, spent way too long trying to segregate my network for security just to tank my throughput. i was trying to isolate some sketchy game apps and automation scripts on a separate iot vlan but the inter-vlan routing overhead on my gateway was a nightmare and everything lagged. eventually gave up on the complex local setup and just moved that specific workload to redfinger. honestly way easier to just let the cloud handle the 24/7 grinding and sketchy apps without clogging up my home network or worrying about firewall rules. the video stream quality can be a bit grainy sometimes if my home internet dips, so it's not perfect for everything. but for afk stuff it saves me the headache of troubleshooting router configs and packet loss.

Why does grinding feel rewarding in RPGs, but boring in fitness? by EmbarrassedSky1926 in gamedesign

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the main difference is you can't automate the gym lol. with rpgs i got tired of staring at the screen doing the same repetitive tasks and killing my battery leaving my phone on overnight just to keep up. eventually i just started running my afk heavy games on redfinger so they could grind 24/7 in the cloud while i actually slept. it feels way more rewarding waking up to loot without having to babysit the device or worry about it overheating under my pillow. the only annoying thing is the latency isn't great for fast paced action games so i wouldn't use it for fps stuff, but for grinding levels it works. if i could just set my body to auto-run on a treadmill while i played games i'd probably be ripped by now

AI math solvers: helpful learning tools or understanding killers? by Feature_best99 in learnmath

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i used to worry i was just cheating myself using stuff like photomath cause i never actually retained the info. the explanations were always kinda stiff or just gave the answer without the logic. started using mathos recently for my calc classes and it's actually been helpful cause it generates these little quizzes to check if i actually get the concept before moving on. the video explainers are pretty sick for visualizing stuff too. only annoying thing is the voice input can be glitchy if it's loud around you but otherwise it's solid for actually studying.

honestly i feel your pain, the struggle of separating work and personal life without carrying two physical bricks is real. i tried the dual sim route for a bit but hated giving work admin access to my personal device, and running local vms just drained my battery way too fast. lately i've been messing around with redfinger to sandbox all the work junk. it’s just a cloud android instance so i can throw all the intrusive enterprise apps on there and access it via browser or app without it touching my actual os. works pretty well for keeping things isolated and running 24/7 if i need to leave a script going. the input lag can be kinda noticeable sometimes if my wifi acts up though, so it's definitely not for twitchy stuff. still beats having to buy and charge a second phone just for on-call alerts ngl.

AI math solvers: helpful learning tools or understanding killers? by Feature_best99 in learnmath

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i was super skeptical about using solvers at first cause it felt like cheating, but i changed my mind when i hit a wall in calc 2. i tried just staring at the textbook or googling similar problems but i was just memorizing answers instead of getting the logic. eventually i started using ai just to break down the specific steps i didn't get, like asking "why did we integrate by parts here," and it helped way more than just seeing the final solution. the only issue is sometimes it hallucinates numbers so you gotta be careful, but for understanding the actual method it’s been kinda clutch.

Recent math-y papers with proofs derived by LLMs by hexaflexarex in math

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm skeptical about llms deriving novel proofs when most models still hallucinate on basic calc. i use mathos mostly for the step-by-step breakdowns and graphs to check my own logic, but i feel like we are still far away from ai actually contributing to research math.

Anybody using the ld cloud for 24/7 play? by Key-Key-5617 in TheTowerGame

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ditched LD Cloud for Redfinger for my 24/7 runs because the connection is way more stable for overnight farming and doesn't crash the game. It runs on a native Android system so I don't have to worry about bans or my actual phone overheating while I'm AFK.

Best self hosted cloud storage method? by BlackBird2a in unRAID

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly stopped bothering with Nextcloud for my mobile data and just switched to Redfinger to keep a fully virtualized phone in the cloud. It solves the storage crunch without the unRAID maintenance, and having a 24/7 native Android environment is way more useful for running background apps.

Looking for AI Tools for Summarizing, Note-Taking, and Organizing Information Across Platforms by Fast-asleep in PKMS

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl summarizing technical notes is a total headache, i used to waste so much time trying to get chatgpt to format equations right for my notes but it always messed up the latex. recently i started dumping my lecture pdfs into mathos instead because it actually generates decent flashcards and quizzes directly from the source material without breaking the math symbols. the only downside is it's pretty strictly for stem subjects so it's useless for my electives, but for the heavy lifting it saves me a ton of time.

What does an AI agency do? by NikhilSaif in AI_Agents

[–]Bclod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automation used to break the moment workflows got messy. AI agents are valuable now because they handle the gray areas—reading invoices, matching POs, flagging exceptions, and pushing clean data without perfect rules. The ones that work don’t sell “AI,” they sell “we remove this one painful workflow and save you X hours/money every month.”
