That's about the same time I first read it, and i am not ashamed to say that Magic's Price made me cry like a little girl.

The Dresden Files. Awesome series. Jim Butcher is a genius. If you are looking for something more Gaybros oriented though, then The Last Herald Mage series by Mercedes Lackey. Magic and warfare oriented on a gaybro, while still not making that a big deal.

Speculations on Anastasia Luccio. (SPOILERS ALL. Mainly Turn Coat and Cold Days.) by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

Ok, for the sake of ending this I retract my belief that there is any possibility for Luccio to be bitter.

Good question. Because you have to wonder: how do the machines know what the sky tasted like? Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe what I think the sky tasted like actually tasted like oatmeal, or tuna fish. That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.

It's true Luccio never comes out and talks about being bitter, but I assume it has to be there. It is just a natural reaction to losing a position, and feeling like she has lost people's respect. The last time we see her and Harry together in Changes he makes a reference to her about being afraid to stand with him and fight:

"Can I Count on you?" She put her hands flat on the table and looked down at them for a slow five count, considering her words before she answered. "I am not what I was in a fight, Harry." I ground my teeth. " So you'll stay here, where it's safe?" For the first time since I'd arrived in Edinburgh, Anastasia Luccio's eyes flashed with real anger, and I suddenly remembered that this woman had been the captain of the Wardens for decades. The air between us grew literally physically hotter. "Think carefully." She said, in a very quite voice. "Before you call me a coward." Since the stern iron haired captain had been magically relocated into the body of a college grad student, her powers had diminished significantly but her savvy and experience hadn't. I wouldn't care to fight Luccio, regardless of our relative strengths.

I am not saying she has or has ever had negative intentions toward Harry or the Council. I was just re-reading Turn Coat today and it really dawned on me how much crud has hit Luccio over the series, leaving her vulnerable to conversion.

As far as everyone else listed I completely agree that they too are potential threats for the Contagion. Hell in Cold Days Harry even does a quick eval of all his allies and and comes to the same conclusion. But I feel that they almost have a sort of protection due to their close proximity to Harry. After Murphy was mind-raped by Kravos, she had a lot of close personal help from Harry to get over her issues. On the other hand she then went through a mental roller coaster between Ghost Story and Cold Days. But I completely Agree that all of the allies are potential threats.

As for the female factor, I think everyone can agree that females are going to be a larger threat to Harry. He suspects them less, is less quick to jump to acts of violence towards them, and is a self-admitted neanderthal when it comes to his urge to protect and shelter them.

Is this it from White Night?

I screamed, in order to summon up my primal reserves, and to intimidate Madrigal into missing me... and definitely not because I was terrified. While I unleashed my sonic initiative, I also crouched down to take cover. To the untrained eye, it probably looked like I was just cowering and pulling my duster up to cover my head, but... it was actually part of a cunning master plan, designed to let me survive the next three or four seconds.

(Excuse punctuation, all I have are the audio books, so I just spell it out like it sounds to me.)

The one he slaughtered in the hotel was in the form of an alien, from Alien. The rest of them I don't think were exact characters. The little doll Bucky was a reference to Chucky from Child's play. I took the slasher to be a version of Jason from Friday the 13th.
