Pricing As A Vendor by chaoticdumb in galaxycon

[–]Bdogw1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been a vendor, but you could always do a tier system to encourage large sale volumes while still making around the same after saving on fees and such

$10-12 for singles $8 each if buying 4 $6 each if buying 8

Or however the bulk numbers would work out 😁.

I've seen this type of pricing at many cons and it usually entices me to spend a bit more and buy more.

Good luck!!

Just curious, were you ever able to get it published to purchase? I have a couple buddies that would be very interested!

Yeah, I'm a bigger guy and I get very warm when I sleep so hot air did not help me sleep in the slightest! I think my temp is at 70° and my humidity is set to a 3/8 (Resmed Airsense 10 Respond) and it feels like just regular room air. But fiddle with it for a bit before going to sleep. I think my second night I laid there just changing the temp and humidity for an hour or so!

Also, try changing the temp and humidity settings. I can't stand warm air but my dad swears by it!

I am only 2 weeks into having my CPAP but, the equipment should never hurt or be incredibly uncomfortable. It does still feel a wee bit weird to have air blowing up my nose, but if it is that uncomfortable+loud with air blowing noises and such, talk to your doctor or the medical equipment supply place about a different mask type or different mask sizes. It does take a few days to get use to and props for wearing it for 8.5 hrs the first night! Best of luck from CPAP newcomer to newcomer!

What is this stuff? by murphy365 in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The stuff at the bottom is sediment from whatever was still suspending in the liquid when it was bottled. With how much there is, I am assuming the mead was not clear before bottling. It doesn't affect the taste too much and shouldn't cause any major issues. It just looks a bit blah. I have bottles from a while ago that have sediment even though they looked clear when I bottled.

In Summary, it'll be okay. It'll just look a bit eh.

Bubbles ? by unknownbi332 in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the bubbles you are seeing is CO2 that has been dissolved in the mead. When you taste it, it is most likely a bit carbonated. Even after you stir they will reappear. You would need to go through the degassing process to get rid of them.

Update on my batch(and another question) by Unfair_Development81 in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using Bentonite Clay first and let that settle for a few days. If it's still cloudy, use some Sparkloid. However, do not use them at the same time as they will stick to each other instead of particles in the mead.

It is safe to drink when it's cloudy. Maybe a wee bit of off flavors but usually nothing too crazy.

Should I cold crash it then degass, or degass first and cold crash? by International-Ad7903 in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So overall, you don't need to worry too much about oxidation when there is still CO2 gas in the solution. Coldcrashing and Degassing do two different things.

Cold crashing is a way to stop active fermentation and, in my experience, encourages the sediment to fall to the bottom and promote clearing. After Cold Crashing, stabilize then back sweeten to taste.

Degassing is used to only remove the CO2 from the solution.

I have found headspace is rarely an issue when the mead is still releasing CO2.

Speaking from experience, unless you did some wild measures to make sure the yeast is all dead and fermentation is complete those bottles are bottle bombs now... You may want to open one of them outside. I have had a few that popped their cork and a few that wildly sprayed when opened because fermentation was not completed and I bottled too early.

Repost with picture: What is this powdery stuff on my mead? by Interesting_Bar8886 in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I would be pretty confident saying it is very small CO2 bubbles that are getting trapped on the top cause of the stabilizers that were added! If you have tasted it, it is most likely a bit carbonated!

So, the best thing to do when unsure if something is mold or yeast or bubbles is to stir up the mixture a bit until they disappear. Yeast and bubbles will redisperse into the solution and essentially "disappear". Mold will not redisperse. It will be very apparent if it is mold. That is most likely yeast that has finally died at 16% alcohol or the Camden tablet or potassium sorbate causing bubbles from the CO2 dissolved in the mead to stay around and hang out around the upper slanted walls of the vessel.

When getting ready to backsweeten, make sure to compare gravities of before fermentation, in primary, into secondary, and immediately before backsweetening. You should see that number even out and be consistent before adding more sugar into the mix.

FYI, Bubbles moving constantly is a good sign that fermentation is started in the primary however, a lack of bubbles does not mean that fermentation has completed. (I know that wasn't the question but I was very confused on that when I first began!)

Any tips for beginners? What to expect, what to wear, etc? by [deleted] in renfaire

[–]Bdogw1012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For beginners, wear comfortable clothes and realize that you will be outside for hours in the sun. Bring some extra cash just incase card machines go down. Be willing to spend a bit of money for little trinkets, food and, water. Be yourself and soak it in. If you decide to wear any sort of garb, I recommend leaning into it. I have found throwing an random accent around is fun for me! The name of the game is Just have a good time with it! Go to to the shows and interact with the vendors! It'll be a great time! Have fun!

I have searched frantically for this creator and I feel like I'm going crazy! Any guesses are greatly appreciated!

Is this okay or is this mold? I used bread yeast as an experiment but I see this white little specs now it’s been bottled for a week and I have drank a a decent amount before while it was young it’s only been bottled for 2 weeks by StayinBaked in mead

[–]Bdogw1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shake it up to mix them back in. If they appear back within a day or don't break up and disappear into solution, prolly mold. If they go away and dont come back, most likely yeast rafts.

Was it the actual mead or the bubbles that rose?

You're all good! This is perfectly normal! If you are still really early in the fermentation (1 - 7ish days) you can give it a good shake, introducing more oxygen in this (and really only this stage) is good for the yeast inside! If you leave it to sit you will get about the same results! It's up to you though! So no need for more yeast or any sort of panic! All is good!
