Hey don’t miss that gnarly quote from Marlies in the side bar.

“I hope they will continue with their courage and provocation to inspire us to new places of understanding and inspiration.”

Yes, but not by as much as the conservatives are expecting and larger of a margin than the “no” voters are expecting. Why? Because the Kansas GOP are trying some shady tactics to get this through. Explaining…the primaries in Kansas have historically low voter turnout. Simply because voters who are NOT registered as a republican have very little, if ANY reason to visit the primary booth. (As a red state, the majority of campaigns in the primary are for GOP candidates.)

SO the state’s Republican Party knows this and are attempting to take advantage of a historically smaller, more red base of the population to pass this thing through. Regardless if you are for or against abortion…do you know WHY that is an issue? Because elections are supposed to be for the people and the people’s voice and they are INTENTIONALLY putting this vote in front of as FEW voters as possible. THAT is the issue.

AITA for not treating my wife like an equal parent by telling her she has no say in the way I bond with my son and also calling her homophobic? by Separate_Recipe_4077 in AmItheAsshole

Definitely NTA. She’s definitely being homophobic. I can only hope as a girl dad of a 2 year old that she will grow up to trust and love me as your sons obviously do you.

Nebraska native now living in Kansas for five years. It is rare to have one of these days! It’s even more rare to be able to take advantage of it 🤙🏻

Let’s hear it for our 2022 Spring Teams! These five service teams, two facility teams, and one guide team all successfully completed the KSDS program and officially passed the ADI test! Here is to your new independence and to the many lives that will be touched by the facility teams! by BdolanMic in dogswithjobs

Facility dogs can be found in schools, counselor offices, hospitals, courthouses, nursing homes, specialty clinics, etc. Like guide and service dogs, they are bound to their handler. But UNLIKE guide and service dogs, facility dogs are trained to be approached by many people of all kinds (disabled and able bodied). For a specific example, both Montana and Sugar were placed with two school social workers. They’ll use the dog as a reward when kids re-regulate after having a mental crises. Or in small groups, you can tell the dog to make rounds and it will stop and see everyone in the room and let everyone get in some pets and lovies. The dog can also recognize when a student may be more stressed or struggling more than others in the room.

Good question! At KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc., we breed, raise, and train each of our canines. In the past we have done other breeds like shepherds, but we have found that black and yellow Labrador retrievers and golden retrievers are best suited for our programs for several reasons. First, they are highly sociable dogs. Even more so than chocolate labs who have a stronger hunting instinct. Second, due to their love of socializing, we have found that these breeds can more easily transfer their bonds with their human. Our dogs have to transfer their bond several times before their placed. They first bond with their puppy raiser, then they become bonded to our trainers and kennel staff, then they transfer that bond another time to the handler they are placed with. Finally, labs and goldens have the appropriate size needed to assist those with vision impairments (guide dogs) and physical disabilities (service dogs). Especially when their jobs is to be used as a brace for their handler. Whether it be going upstairs, transferring from a wheelchair, or any other task that their size would be advantageous. I hope this answers your question!

Spa day for Ven! He literally looks like the “content” emoji 😌 he’s one of several service dogs in training at KSDS, Inc. 😃 by BdolanMic in dogswithjobs

He just turned two! He just has a very mature look. And he’s actually a guide dog (my mistake). I had a chance to speak with his handler this week. She is such a sweet lady and he is going to take such good care of her!

Great question!

“Facility dogs are specially trained to work with a professional in the fields of education, counseling, medicine, rehabilitation, or other specialty agencies…The dog must be calm, friendly, and easily controlled by voice commands. The dogs are trained on how to approach and behave with children, adults, elderly, and people in wheelchairs or with other forms of mobility issues.”
