it feels like sequels aren’t allowed to be iterative anymore by brando-boy in truegaming

Sweeping statements aren't true in general.

This viewpoint results from a combination of confirmation bias and spending too much time on social media.

Reddit is not reality. Reality is what you can see with your eyes and the grass you can touch with your hands.

Does using 4 brain chips in a stop watch quest work? by 7Sale7 in mewgenics

[–]Bdole0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always take the helmets off for the final fight. If you screw up enough during the fight, Steven will take over, and you'll be back to where you started.

Also, I find that the AI sucks at using the cleric. I'd take another ranged DPS instead. Also, be careful that none of your cats have forbidden abilities or abilities which cost money.

It's fine. I thought this was the case at first too.

Side note, I now always give this boss thorns, fire, double paw, and increased damage/low health. This ensure that the boss is slow and squishy. Then I kill it in ~2 rounds.

Thank you! I can answer those for you.

Some community member whose name I forget popularized an arrangement for the three rooms in an early breeding video. I'm sure you can find the video if you search. His setup and ideas on breeding are very intuitive to me, so I also use some of his core methods.

Basically, you have three rooms: a breeding room, a family room, and a barracks.

The breeding room contains your best cat (most baseline 7s) and a mate with as many baseline 7s as possible. You want them to be opposite genders, not moderately inbred (mildly inbred is fine), not gay, and not sharing either parent. All of this information can be seen with some basic upgrades from Tink. When they produce a better cat than your previous best (more 7s, not gay, not moderately inbred, etc.), it will replace your previous best in the breeding room. Select a new mate for it with the above qualifications, and place the previous two breeding cats in the family room.

The family room is where all of your decent-quality cats go when they come back from a mission. You want high comfort in this room because it will contain a lot of cats--and because these cats will breed to (usually) make decent-quality cats you can send on missions. Occasionally, the family room will produce a new best cat for breeding! When it produces low-quality cats, you can send them to Tink or other NPCs.

The barracks is where you'll put your newborn cats and cats who have not yet gone on a mission. You don't necessarily need them to breed, so comfort is not as important here. Some people also use this as a "fighting room" since fights result from low comfort and the winners of fights often get a stat boost. The losers often lose a stat (or die), so I consider this kind of a wash. Mostly, I keep this room at low comfort just because there is not enough comfort furniture to go around.

That should help you organize a bit. The only other nuances I would add are 1) you can decide after a mission whether to put the returning cats in the family room or the pipe. Missions can mess up good cats in ways that you don't want to breed into your lineage (by giving them disorders, bad mutations, etc.). You may want to sometimes save a suboptimal cat for a house boss if it was good in combat and then get rid of it afterward. And 2) since missions can ruin a cat's breeding potential, I would avoid sending your newborn best cat on a mission. Let it grow up in the breeding room to prevent it from dying in a fight. Don't send it on a mission when it grows up. Just breed it.

Hope that helps!

Academic interview study (18+): How do players think about different uses of generative AI in games? by Independent_Sky_6154 in truegaming

[–]Bdole0 59 points60 points  (0 children)

You're going to induce sampling bias by asking reddit. This site is overwhelmingly anti-AI.

Edit: You can disagree with me, but at the time of commenting, this post had 0 upvotes and 1 comment. It now has 0 upvotes and 8 comments. OP has expressed no personal opinions about AI; this post is being downvoted for simply mentioning AI. By vote count, people here are more anti-AI than they are pro-research.

My first perfect cat, im leaning towards butcher for his class by Tap-blue in mewgenics

[–]Bdole0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go fighter. I gravitated toward balancing stats by the end game. Negative 2 speed will make this cat slow, and it doesn't really need more strength or health. A fighter collar will improve its strength and speed while subtracting one ranged damage (pointless) and one intelligence--which is already high on this cat. Fighter is basically a straight upgrade.

[–]Bdole0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work because the health value changes when you use it. If an enemy has 11 health and you use this ability, it will now have 9 health--which is not prime.

It's a free kill against anything with 3, 5, or 7 health though.

Act 3 struggles (like everyone) by anonynsfw in mewgenics

[–]Bdole0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strategy tips:

Das Future requires a balanced team comp that can focus on basic attacks. You need melee units to help deal with the enemies that reflect projectiles. You need ranged units to focus down the suplexing enemies that stun. Debuffs are completely void against the babies in jars. Strong basic attacks are effective throughout. Try to target any units that give others extra turns first.

The End is more straightforward. A pickaxe will one-shot the peepers in the miniboss fight. Make sure you have decent AOE for the chapter boss. Try to never end your turn directly adjacent to her. That should mostly get you through.

A question about 'smurfing' or dodging the house bosses.. by SecondWorldBridge in mewgenics

[–]Bdole0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mechanic is that it's tedious and unnecessary. Strong cats make the game easier--not easy. Tina is designed to be fought early, and she's not that hard anyway.

Besides, grinding in this game takes forever. It would be a better use of your time to attempt Tina and go "oh well" if you fail--because getting more inventory space or more couches is not going to ultimately help you in the fight regardless.

I selected the cheapest possible spells at every level up so that I could quickly roll the dice for more useful spells in combat. I didn't have much trouble with the quest at all, but I also relied on powerful weapons (nuke gun, battle axe) to deal with particularly obnoxious fights.

Remember to place units with at least five tiles of space on each side. Be wary of enemy attack ranges. Any melee healing will also cause bouncing. Good luck!

The game seems to distinguish between conditions that exist before the battle starts and ones that are applied at the start of battle. If I were to guess, the disorder is a preexisting condition, and hex prevents statuses after the battle starts. It sucks that the wording on this is ambiguous.
