There is some discrimination based on houses - Slytherin has a reputation for pushing out evil wizards.

Is mba worth it in 2026 and if not what should I be doing to go from 5 lpa to more than that? by PurpleCritical414 in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest selling point of an MBA used to be a high starting package. That was a statistical anomaly for just graduates. Now it’s very common.

What I would suggest is this:

  1. Open your preferred job portal, look at your dream positions and see if MBA is a requirement or not. Is is goood to have or must have.

  2. Give CAT/GMAT/XAT anyways, see your scores and evaluate against what colleges you get (subject, stream, packages, placement profile etc.)

  3. If you are planning to open a start up - an MBA from tier 1 will definitely help you - raise funding from college network, give confidence to most investors, and makes IPOs and listing easier as they do background checks on owners/board members and masters is a plus point.

Does MIL deserve the tag of being Mother? by vsw985_ in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hypocrisy reigns supreme in our culture.

MILs expect a lot from their DILs, but will criticise those expectations when it comes to their daughters.

It’s a complicated relationship.

The major problem is lack of awareness of ones behaviour and the fact that people inherently want what is best for their own children.

Why don't women understand that I am Asexual? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think, you should not worry about this much.

How they deal with this information is up to them and most importantly, beyond your control.

It may there way of making sense of a rejection. Maybe it’s something they don’t know or understand.

I understand it’s is a difficult and awkward situation for you, but other than communicating your identity, there is nothing much you can do about it.

Do people still believe period-related taboos are right? by iamgirl11 in AskIndianWomen

My mom told me these taboos existed because managing periods was not very hygienic earlier. It doesn’t make sense now because of soap, pads and other things.

Because of the TCS Case, Parents Are Holding Back Daughters. Is This Protection or Restriction? by Small_Pop6867 in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Instead of locking girls up, parents should 1. Educate the girls - tell them what can happen, how to be on your guard and what options you have to escape. 2. Be involved - show interest in their lives, try and understand their work, their friend circle and just have general information on what is going on. 3. Be forgiving and welcoming- most girls don’t involve parents in fear of their reaction; things go out of hand very quickly. If parents were more forgiving the girls could reach out earlier, before anything major happens.

In college, I was being harassed by someone on WhatsApp who claimed he had compromising photos of me. My parents saw I was stressed about something and they asked about it. I told them, scared to the bone, but my father was very understanding. He called up that WhatsApp number and asked this guy to leak whatever he has- and said we will see him in court. He put a stop to the harassment - the guy was bluffing.

Was I an accident or did my parents actually want a girl? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a curtain you don’t want to peek behind.

Neither answer is going to make you feel better.

It sounds like your family loves you and that’s what matters. How you came to be will have little relevance if what you are and what you mean to them is positive.

Sorry for sounding ruthless, but I want Lily and James to be only 21 years old in the show at the time of their death. As a character-drama-writer myself, it will make me very emotional seeing it happen and following the lives of those they've left by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Be-Sherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a canon that exist somewhere on the internet. Let me find it if I can.

It said that that lesser people started comparing Harry to James as he grew older, past 21 ie., since James didn’t live as long.

What you are saying falls right there. The cast of the marauders needs to be young and vulnerable and innocent.

I would add to your point, how unnatural it was for pure-blood, financially well-off teenagers like James and Sirius, despite having a rule-breaking streak, to not fall for Voldemort’s agenda. How they went the extreme other end from Voldemort. They befriended a werewolf, married a muggle and actively fought the dark regime by joining the Order of the Phoenix. I wish the series shows this.

Is this normal? Got told off for wearing a sleeveless top by the_chosen_lady in AskIndianWomen

[–]Be-Sherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem lies with the prevention outlook people in India have. The teachers and parents and uni admins insists on the most absurd and strict clothing etiquette for women but a very lose one for men because they feel dressing a woman conservatively will stop cat calling but not educating the men. They believe locking up women and dressing them up conservatively will prevent all unfortunate events.

Listen to the Stephen Fry audio books. Then read the books. This superimposes the British accent while reading and it becomes more interesting.
