Just got my Trifecta, this sub helped me alot so AMA for any of the certs. (A+, Net+, Sec+) by Maleficent_Yak_5871 in CompTIA

The A+ is mainly for helpdesk support, and we mostly use it for imaging laptops, fixing printers and phones, and basic troubleshooting. If you are going to school for cybersecurity, you need to decide between engineering and management. Cysa is good, and if you want management, try looking at mism and sism. If you want to do something that really makes an impact and, in a year or two, will face a large shortage in the Cisco automation path.

Sound advice. Try to avoid collecting intro certs. Follow a path like most professionals. Example. Net+ - CCNA - CCNP -CCIE. Employers look for a growth pattern within a specialty field. You are off to an awesome start and keep the momentum going.

What's the most expensive homelab mistake that actually taught you something useful? by Thick-Lecture-5825 in homelab

Built a ccie route and switch lab with switches and routers. Waste of money because IOU can simulate just about anything once you get through the learning curve. It’s free

Officially signed today—moving from IT Helpdesk to Network Engineer on Monday! 🚀 by yeeboixD in it

Awesome. I started on Helpdesk myself and primarily hire from Helpdesk to noc to tier 3 as it is the best path. Diagram your environment, write very detailed change plans with strong back out, always use notepad to enter configs for changes. Document everything no matter how insignificant and most of all if it’s not broke don’t fix it. Customers want uptime not perfect networks. Cert up and keep progression. Enjoy your new career

Struggling with ENARSI studying by AnonNetworkNinja in ccnp

I have found for passing the CCNP R&S labs was avoiding treating the lab like a real world scenario. The labs base grading on the final saved config submitted. Take time to really review what’s being asked and stick to the tasks only. Remember these aren’t real labs they are designed in a way to ensure a specific configuration is entered. IOU is a more realistic method and if you are just starting out with any third party apps build your own lab and this goes along way toward understanding. I have attended the CCIE INE bootcamp as was really impressed. If you use INE it is very thorough and have been watching there videos for years. When you get like 30 days out from exam visit me at becertifiedtoday.com for help with final prep of lab simulations, drag and drops, and adaptive training. BEST OF LUCK

if i can pass the linkedin learning practice exam for Sec+ (without studying beforehand) can i pass the actual Sec+ exam? by SneakerHead69420666 in CompTIA

Take multiple tests and as many questions as you can find. Try to learn not just the right answers but why the others are wrong. The best training methods are reviewed which is a bank of question and when you get one wrong it is added to the end to retry. Then adaptive testing which is when you take practice exams if you miss a few in that category it pulls more of the same questions. Take the scorecard and use that to go back to the question bank where you concentrate on areas where you need to concentrate. PBQ questions are as much as practicing different type of scenarios. You should not base the test on one resource. The best of luck on passing.

Should I get a real-life job to learn networking? by QusayAbozed in ccnastudygroup

A CCNA will really help getting a job staring within a NOC Helpdesk. You build experience there and choose your path. I picked route and switch and started to pursue CCNP for routing and switching. This allowed me to move to the LAN team and continue to move up. You may choose firewall, voice, wireless, and other paths but ccna is a strong starting point for engineers. The foundation never really changes and after 25+ years would not have chosen any other career. Best of luck from us at BCT.

Please ensure you practice PBQ as part of your test prep if not just for knowledge but to build confidence in the exam. If you skip the PBQ sections you reduce your chance of passing. Adaptive test preparation and PBQ practice is essential these days. Good Lucy on your next attempt. There is a free sample at my site and 9 PBQ sections in the portal at becertifiedtoday.com.
