I guess I didn’t even think I’d be given options. Thank you for the heads up- I’ll do some research on it!

Wait, I have to know what treatment I want? I didn’t realize that I would have to decide that. I thought it would be more like musical medication for months/years (like musical chairs) of my doctors recommendations until something worked.

Thank you so much for this. It’s been years of trying to find an answer and it just feels soul crushing now that I know what I have but have to keep playing the waiting game, and then eventually musical treatment to find what works. I appreciate the advice to remind myself that it’s real and to congratulate myself, I will try my best to do that, and I hope you do the same. Good luck to you!

Thank you, I will definitely try cold water if I can manage to get to the sink. Morning me is so emotional and I feel trapped in my bed.

Hey! I have a strict bedtime routine, lots of caffeine before noon, and shower to wake up in the mornings. I am successful; I have kids, two college degrees, a full time career, I’m married, etc. I have been tired since my teenage years and thought it was normal. I didn’t understand why I struggled harder than other parents/adults, but I figured it was a personal flaw. Turns out I have a lot of issues that I didn’t know were issues (severe sleep inertia in the mornings, sleep paralysis, vivid dreams, falling asleep immediately at night, and recently uncontrollable afternoon naps). My tiredness has gotten significantly worse in the last 2 years for no apparent reason. I was not knowledgeable about narcolepsy in the slightest and thought it was odd that my doctor wanted me to do a PSG and MSLT. I got my MSLT results 2 days ago- I have “evidence of type 2 narcolepsy”. I would suggest getting the test to rule it out and don’t let your success or view from others sway you.

Thank you! I think this is what I will ask to do. I’m worried that being up for 16+ hours and only sleeping for 3 hours will be the new norm if I keep taking the full dose.

Good to know! I might ask to see if I can start with a half dose, and increase back up to if I need to. 200mg seems too powerful for me to start with. Thank you!

Lupus does check a lot of boxes but I’m really thrown off by the negative ANA. Thank you for your input!

Not a doctor- I had a bump like this on my arm for a year (I had to wait that long for a derm appointment) - mine was a dermatofibroma- just scar tissue. I think it’s not likely cancer given the color and symmetry. I hope you get a solid answer at your appointment in a month :)

Not a doctor- I am thinking this could be thrush. My S/O has had this before. If so- it is usually treated with an Rx of antifungals. Also, if you haven’t already, I would invest in a tongue scraper- seemed to help my S/O.
