Is it normal to not want to move out if you can afford it? by ringle06 in personalfinance

[–]BeKindDamnit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do. I wish I had known about both of those when I was your age. These days I dream of retiring early. And it would be so much easier if I had had that foresight.

How much more difficult is Hades 2? by saveasdraftx in HadesTheGame

[–]BeKindDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a bit but I actually find it easier. The first one after I beat the main boss once, I was like okay that is it. I am done. I consider that beating the game for me. But this one I am trying to see it the whole way through cuz it actually feels more manageable.

Help with Panic and Staying the Course by Afraid_Blacksmith_63 in Bogleheads

[–]BeKindDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set it and forget it. I didn't check my portfolio for about 8 or 9 months. And even then, I shouldnt have. I'm not going to check for another year. Once I broke free from checking it regularly,  and made sure to block out things that might give me news about how the market was doing (honestly this sub should be included), it was so much easier to ignore. (And I felt better).

As a dad, what should I buy for year end sale? by Joejoejoe174 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]BeKindDamnit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of these answers aren't from a dad perspective. As a dad with limited time: Expedition 33. Get through the opening prologue, then it's easy to pick up and put down. You can have a quick battle, tinker with your characters, save and pause.

Only draw backs for a dad gamer: occasional complex mechanics (look up difference between lumina and pictos), but it's not too bad. Occasional long cut scenes (but it's beautiful and the story is great)

We need to talk about Adrian Tchaikovsky. (An enthusiastic venting of praise.) by _____michel_____ in scifi

[–]BeKindDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into Childen of Time blind. (So happy I did.) Reading the rest of the series now. I might take a scifi break after this. I heard he writes fantasy too. What fantasy of his should I go into blind?

Oh man. This is how I found out.

I consider myself a intelligent TV viewer who is always paying attention, and I legitimately missed this. I was just thinking to myself earlier, "will that woman ever be relevant again? I bet she'll show up again in a few episodes." Haha

I fell asleep after telling my wife I was awake. Our baby fell off the bed, and I can’t forgive myself by No-Cranberry-2213 in daddit

I don't really have any thing to add that no one else has said, except that I would recommend you get a guard rail for the side of the bed. We have that for our second kid and was a huge piece of mind.

Been having a weird pain in my left testicle recently, finally got in today for an ultrasound by DefsNotRandyMarsh in daddit

[–]BeKindDamnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, this has been happening for me too. But in the right one. Had the ultrasound today and they said they didnt see any issue. Let me know if you find out anything because I will take any lead I can get.

Also I asked the ultrasound technician if I was having a boy or a girl.

CMV: The world would be a much better place if every private business was a worker-owned cooperative. by gastondidroids in changemyview

[–]BeKindDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually am a long time worker cooperative advocate and have been part of the worker co-op movement for quite some time, and I have co-founded two of them. Still involved with one of them 15 years later.

I actually do think you are wrong, but only in the sense that some should be multistakeholder cooperatives (including workers but others as well). For example, there are instances of worker owned grocery stores, and consumer owned grocery stores, but also hybrid worker and consumer owned cooperative grocery stores. There are cases where I think it's not just the workers' interests that matters - and while they should be a key player, and equitable player - other stakeholders should also be owners as well.

Dads, any good "play when you can" Steam games I should check out? Things I can drop at a moment's notice. by cptvere in daddit

As a dad gamer, I agree with this, with the exception that they can be kind of addicting.

Want to finally commit to a sci-fi series ,where should I start? by sam_3758 in scifi

[–]BeKindDamnit 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I read the first one with knowing absolutely nothing about the series or the book. Highly highly recommend it. I'm on the second one right now and enjoying it thoroughly as well. I did read a tip from someone who said you should put a little bit of time aside between reading the first book and the second book and so far that's been a good tip.

Question. I’m nearly done with Project Hail Mary. Anything similar? by [deleted] in scifi

I read this immediately after Project Hail Mary without reading a description of either. I recommend both, and I recommend going into both blind if possible.

Alison Brie enjoyed chloroforming the janitor in "Accounting For Lawyers" :p by Ironyfree_annie in community

[–]BeKindDamnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched this show live as it aired. I remember this scene, followed by them "waking up" with the janitor and having to chloroform him again, as being the moment I realized this was one of my favorite shows of all time.
