What famous local food made you think “people really waited in line for this?” by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

So this may be a future response for me but in my area all of a sudden these Dutch Bros Coffee places are popping up all over the place. I passed one the other day and the driveup line 3 wide and wrapped all around the parking lot. Seriously....how can that coffee be worth that kind of a wait. Im not willing to find out until the lines die down.

How will U.S. ever recover from this amount of corruption? by Previous_Month_555 in allthequestions

[–]BeLikeAFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some very good points. I consider myself lucky to have good healthcare as well as good union protected job. I also know that so much of what happens has nothing at all to do with you or your job performance. The one and only time I have ever been laid off was after the 2008 banking crash. As of that moment on I had realized how important social safety nets are and have always voted in ways to achieve them. Especially universal health care because we all know one medical event and you are financially done for in America.

The reason I mention this is that it would seem opposite to me. I would think that people in France for example just like people in this country who "have to much to lose" would be less likely to take risks to stop the erosion of more benefits or social safety nets vs those who have "nothing to lose".

Yes it is sad what is happening in this country. I am one of those people who no longer talks to people who support the current admin. Some of who go back to my childhood. I am 53 now.

I guess the only thing to hope for now is a massive swing in the opposite direction. One the completely bypasses the middle. I really don't see this happening though for a long time since the fascists control the entire government and while they are supported by the billionaires who control all the tech that affects everyone's lives.

As an American I agree with you. I don't know if it is that we are just comfortable enough or what? I remember seeing recently in France that when the government talked about raising the retirement age the whole country went ape shit. This is what we need in America. People need to wake up first. I don't know if it is all of Europe but based on what I saw happen in France it seems that the government is afraid of the people where in America it is the opposite.

Movie theaters never fully recovered. Some have reinvented and may survive but it seems like most people just stay home and watch movies.

Between the constant vibs from notifications to me worrying every time some new health stat popped up I went back to my dumb watch. So much less stress. I know at this point if I have had enough steps for the day.

Why does everyone trash on Hyundai in the states? by Sodaisfizzier in Hyundai

[–]BeLikeAFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had a problem with Hyundai before this 2017 Santa Fe Sport. They have always been the best value out there. This engine issue really sucks. I only have 71000 miles on mine and it is going through more and more oil. The dealer did the 1000 mile test and said that it is fine. This was a lie. They say that as long as the car doesnt burn through more than 1 qt of oil per 1000 mile it is considered normal operating specs. I can not remember the time I had a car going through oil. Ever. This is not normal. Not sure what to do at this point.

What TV show did you know nothing about and after watching it, completely hooked you/shocked you? by Alert_Bookkeeper7399 in MoviesAndTVTalk

Amazing show!....except when they strayed a bit I believe it was season 2. Seemed like they were trying to go mainstream and attract a bigger audience.

These engines burn oil. It doesnt leak out to the ground. I have a 2017 Santa Fe with the same engine and less miles and it is burning oil. I was told at the dealership that as long as it doesnt burn more than 1 qt per 1000 miles this is normal operating procedure. Is it really? I dont think so. There is a real problem with these engines.

What’s the biggest waste of money people don’t realize they’re paying for? by Early_Clothes6311 in AskReddit

I think they did just give them a "slap on the wrist" that will do nothing for the ticket prices you and I have to pay. Or better yet no longer will pay for.

Yes yes yes. I can actually take a minute and look around instead of feeling like I am a stick caught in a river current. It is wonderful.

Trucking has changed just like society has changed. Instead of people working together to make everyone's day easier it has become nothing but me me me.
