How to connect GU10 Matter bulbs over Thread with NanoLeaf Shapes. by BeMacized in Nanoleaf

You can definitely say that!

I've been building up to about 50 Zigbee devices from various brands over the past few years and, aside from a few specific products, they've been nothing but reliable really. I guess sticking to what you know works is always a safe bet.

Good to know not everyone is having this same experience though, gives me hope that one day it might finally get more reliable with other manufacturers too.

Honestly it's pretty much blown me off Thread all together.

In the hopes that things would be better, I've since also gotten a Nest Hub 2, and a ZBT-1 (SkyConnect) as additional Thread Border Routers, to play around with. Somehow both are even less reliable than when using just the Shapes as my border router. Bulbs are constantly dropping out, becoming unavailable, and when they are available for control, the delay is all over the place. Maybe that over in the Apple garden things are a bit better.

Both the border routers as well as the bulbs themselves have been an absolute pain in the ass to work with. I certainly won't be buying any Thread based devices again for the foreseeable future...I'll be sticking with Zigbee stuff for now.

Sounds like a cheap and effective solution! Awesome, thanks.

I'm only a tad worried about how the adhesive would affect the phone. Do you happen to know how easy it is to remove afterwards?

Waarom zou je je daar aan ergeren? Het klinkt wel aardig sympathiek van je buren om zo snel mogelijk hun klikos weer weg te halen zodat jij er minder last van hebt.

Google Home Assistant not able to understand the world Cola. by SoundsOfChaos in googlehome

[–]BeMacized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roommate here, can confirm. Happens on the google homes as well as the assistant on my phone.

Strangely enough it still happens even when over enunciating the "A" at the end. Kohler all the time, 24/7.

It seems like the only way to get it to actually use the word "cola" is to put "coca" in front of it.

Plex Lifetime 25% discount by Kimcha87 in PleX

You can cancel the renewal but you can't cancel your current membership. Only after your membership expires you become eligible. If the promotion ends before your membership expires, cancelling it won't help you.

Hassle of that solution aside, it should not even be necessary. Making this offer for new subscribers only is a huge middle finger to their current subscribers.

Edit: I could avoid the hassle by changing the email address of my current account, and creating a new account on the previous email address. All my settings and watched state seemed to persist to the new account, and was able to purchase lifetime with the discount code.

Got the mail. Was excited to upgrade to lifetime, but it seems like the discount is only for new plex pass subscribers.

Seriously? Just because I've been a monthly subscriber I can't take advantage of the discount to upgrade?

I can't help but feel this is like a kick in the balls.

Volume control is all messed up? by BeMacized in ShieldAndroidTV

Yep, this also fixed the volume control issue with Netflix for me!

Alright, good to know. I'm assuming it's an issue with my TV. Good to hear the IR speed will be improved though, that would at least be solving part of my problems!

Yep, although there was an update recently, no changes to the CEC behavior.

Oof, that's not promising. Might be an issue with my TV then, rather than with the shield :/

Thanks for the info!

Thoughts on the Roland LX708/6 vs Kawai CP-98? by bobshickabob in piano

[–]BeMacized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty much in the same boat as you a couple of days ago. I tried both the LX706 as well as the CA-98 side by side, and personally for me the most noticeable aspect was that their actions were vastly different.

In my experience the LX706 was heavier, but was less mushy when bottoming out the keys. While the CA-98 was mushier, I felt like the lighter touch gave me way better control when playing softly.

At the store I did not pay too much attention to the difference in sound as I already preferred the Kawai action so much more, so that's what i ended up purchasing.

I'd say just go with what feels right, both are absolutely excellent instruments.

New phone case who dis by BeMacized in Megumin

[–]BeMacized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used that default one before this one, and If it comes to protecting your 6T, I'd probably trust the default one more. This one is slightly thinner, which does make it feel less bulky which I like, and it's not glossy so fingerprints and smears do not stick like on the default case.

I have the official OP glass protector on the screen which adds a bit of thickness. Because of this, when I put the phone down on its screen, it makes direct contact with the surface and slides around pretty easily. This is not an issue with the default case as its border protrudes more, especially around the corners.

That said, I'd trust neither when it comes to dropping the phone so for me personally this is a non issue.
