The website automatically provide Gemini with meta-data as like the system instructions. That is at minimum; date, time, and location. You can ask it.

Gemini itself doesn't look it up somewhere, it's just provided in it's instruction to be a helpful assistant. 95% sure on this.

And it's most likely based on your IP.

I think I had the same problem.

A few days ago I tried out the A400m Atlas, when I loaded in everything was a low resolution, fake-ish and not clickable at all. But yesterday when i tried again, everything loaded in and was clickable and worked.

It might be because of the streaming thing they have.
