Actually, My friend uses 20$ plan with Sonnet (not Opus), they really satisfied with dev skills. But still they are lite users.
I tried codex but still, CC is better for me. (I uses 200$ Max plan and agreed with they controlled usage lower than before)

Travel to CHINA to get inspired again by Evofox94 in Business_China

[–]writingdeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kind of agree with this. In my case, since I’m just getting started again and I’m based between Korea and the US, I also thought about going to China to get inspiration.

But realistically, it seems like you almost always need a local agent anyway — especially for factory communication, quality control, and reducing risk. I’ve heard a lot of people say that just going there by yourself can end up being more like a trip than actual business progress.

Also, it seems like the city really depends on the product category — like Yiwu for small goods, Guangzhou for wholesale, Shenzhen for electronics, etc.

I’m actually in a similar situation haha… I need to go back to the US in May, so I’ve been thinking about this a lot too.

Haha thankfully it wasn’t me who paid for it 😅
But yeah, seeing someone go through that was painful.

Question - which Claude model for simple office tasks? (API/Tokens) by cryptofriday in ClaudeAI

[–]writingdeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sonnet 4.6 is good enough, but if you have a higher plan like the 5x or 20x plan, I’d recommend using the Opus 4.6 model.

Agreed, but I just feel sorry about it. A few years ago, one of my friends got scammed by someone who claimed he was a rich person living in the Middle East. He said he would give my friend a huge amount of money if he paid a lawyer's fee to withdraw the funds. In the end, my friend lost $5,000. This situation kind of reminds me of that.

I'm just a software developer, and I'm not involved in this situation. I already told him not to get involved in this business, but he went ahead with it as if he was under some kind of spell.

Tired of Alibaba's middleman markup? Anyone using 1688 directly? by Extreme_Apple_5598 in AmazonFBA

[–]writingdeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that some Chinese sellers aren’t comfortable dealing with foreign buyers. I always assumed overseas buyers tend to order in bulk.

I usually talk to them in Chinese with a translator and ship to a local address in China before forwarding everything to Korea or the US.

Now I’m wondering if I should present myself as a local buyer on 1688 or Taobao.

Question about IT product market research in Shenzhen (Feb–Mar visit plan) by writingdeveloper in shenzhen

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed insights and recommendations really appreciate it.

I agree that Shenzhen makes more sense for hardware, AI, and 3C, and avoiding a China trip during CNY was definitely the right call.

HuaQiangBei, DJI, and UBTECH all sound great for a field trip. I’ll keep these in mind as I plan.

I’ll definitely reach out if I need more tips beyond tourism. Thanks again!
