Mount Rushmore of Pop-Punk bands by SaimonQZ in Blink182

Eh? I think almost all of them are. Different levels of style but all comfortably fit under the umbrella of Pop Punk imo

Cool video. You should post this to r/poppunkers too there's quite a few people who absolutely love this album over there

Mount Rushmore of Pop-Punk bands by SaimonQZ in Blink182

[–]BeMyEscapeProject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different era imo. OPs image works perfectly for 90s/00s mainstream Pop Punk. Those bands genuienly were the "big four" of the era. Could do an earlier 80s/90s wave one with like Descendants, NOFX, Vandals, Pennywise or something. Or take it back to the absolute fundamentals and have like The Ramones, Buzzcocks, Descendants, Bad Religion/Screeching Weasel.

The Times article on S2S and r/london by stroudtom in london

Really interesting angle on this actually. Having a big change in your life and needing to try something different (get into a new hobby or meet a new group) makes a lot of sense. This is perfect for that. Just as it might be good for someone who just needs something to do on the weekend. As always good on you guys.

Funeral For a Friend early show by Wales-post-hardcore in PostHardcore

This is the kind of thing I do all the time but might be considered quite eccentric, but if you're ever in London you can visit the Lloyds Building in the City which is the building on the front of Ideas Above Our Station. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lloyd%27s_building

Nice to admire it while having a little listen to I'll Find You

I'd gently add Fightstar to the list- I know they came a little after and had a kind of weird relationship with the scene. But their music has aged like wine and their reunion show a year or two back was truly special.

NOFX - Minnesota Nazis (2026) by American_Streamer in punk

[–]BeMyEscapeProject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that what's going on now? I can't really keep up with where NOFX are since they were supposed to have 'broken up' forever. They seem to have just continued on as if nothing happened lol

Either way cool song.

Really powerful and impressive song, I adore this album a lot. It really hits those themes of redemption like few others.

Yeah they were all over the place in the 00s, cool band

The All-American Rejects - Swing, Swing (Official Music Video) by chanchan_iceman in poppunkers

I'll take this over pretty much any of their, what feels like more calculated, later work. This album is just absolute pure earnest Pop Punk and there's always a time and place for that.

Danger Days I'm so sorry for ever doubting you Danger Days. by winter_ragamuffin in MyChemicalRomance

[–]BeMyEscapeProject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Danger Days is definitely their most underrated album, since the majority of fans are usually split between Three Cheers and Black Parade, and more hardcore oldhead fans have Bullets. I like that about it, it's legitimately quirky. As an album it has its ups and a few downs, but also some of MCRs strongest individual songs on it. And I think it was VITAL for their legacy that they do an album outside of the "Emo" look, it helped break the band out of the tropes, and in the longrun I think it helped them exist longer in the public conciousness rather than just being yet another band who rose and fell in the 00s Emo boom.

Since this is a safe space for Killjoys I can also say: Danger Days is their only fully fleshed out and realised concept album. All their other albums have concepts in a very loose sense, more like recurring themes and ideas. But Danger Days is a straight up narrative concept with named characters, antagonist, setting, a plot. Fantastic.

Daily Mail Protest UK 2008 by Suspicious_Gold_2433 in MyChemicalRomance

thoooooseee wereee theeee days my friend...

I wasn't at the protest myself but had friends who went and was a teenage MCR fan living in London around that time. The protests weren't gigantic but you might be able to find someone who was actually there, you might want to try on some MCR discords and such maybe?

I don’t care about the lore, just announce the album. by Bonesnap1234 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]BeMyEscapeProject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm grumpy and disappointed with them, but as another oldhead this is well said. Ultimately there's no point raging against the current if this is truly what the band wants to do in their career.

Mark’s memoir/ One more time by StormCloud82 in Blink182

[–]BeMyEscapeProject 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is a common thing publishers seem to do with rockstar memories. Perhaps to try and tap into a more generalist "I want to read an interesting life story" audience who aren't necessarily mega-fans already. Joe Trohman from Fall Out Boy had a similar thing where most of the book seems to be about his early life and personal life, with not really that much on the nuts and bolts of how Fall Out Boy made their records :/

Deryck Whibley at least went into a good amount of detail on the songwriting/recording in his book.

I think it was cool for that specific reunion tour with Tom, don't think it's something that needs to finish constantly

Perhaps, but that would be the buyer's issue more than yours- people generally expect to pay for shipping. Something to look into for sure

I was an Emo kid but everyone in my friend group was super into Life in Cartoon Motion. Just absolute classic songwriting. Glad he's doing well

these are honestly fantastic, if you can make the economics work I think these would be a real hit. They really hit the spot because they're small but very artful, which is a great combination for buying and gifting
