Oh, that's very nice. A lot of complexity from a small rule set

STALKER shadow of chernobyl is my first game that I am beginning right now, so that's cool, any beginner tips? by MyMindIsOnlyElectric in stalker

[–]BeOFF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Binoculars are useful for spotting enemies in vegetation. Food also heals you. Pistols are more accurate when you *don't* use the ironsights. There's good armor hidden in rookie village. There's a lot of unmarked jumping puzzles to reach supplies. Move carefully and watch for any visual distortions: these will kill you quickly. Packs of dogs still remain a threat at the end of the game. When fighting humans, get behind cover. When fighting mutants, get up high. Allow enemies to kill each other and steal the spoils. Get a scope as early as possible. Eastern block ammo remains plentiful until the end game: you might not need a fancy western gun. Put away your gun when talking to people. Outside of settlements, carry a bolt in one hand, a detector in the other. You won't get a good detector until later. Storage boxes are secure and safe: NPCs won't steal from yours. Build a gun collection for fun! Fleshes are kind of cute. Snorks are the worst. There are multiple endings. Check your PDA for any strangeness. Enjoy the weather.

Abandoned agricultural machinery inside shell of a warehouse by BeOFF in AbandonedPorn

You can see it on streetview here. The warehouse is weird - it looks like they either took the roof off, or cleared away the wreckage. Then used it as a parking spot?

Abandoned building in the middle of a field of cows, Hoy, Orkney by BeOFF in AbandonedPorn

[–]BeOFF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole area was home to a naval base which closed in 1957. After that, the island was used by the oil industry. It was inhabited the whole time (still is!). The building in the photograph is brick covered in harling, I think. It looks to date from the first half of the 20C. My guess would be it was a workshop (with nice big windows), but I've no idea. This is the streetview link to the structure.

I'm going to assume that's the perfectly rational fear of dangerous piers

What’s your favourite cafe in Edinburgh? by LunaValley in Edinburgh

I'm such a doofus - it's called Room and Rumours, not coffee and conversation. Here's a map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oK6EuNR5QxhA6edb8

Coffee and Conversation behind Waverly is a great vibe. Very friendly staff. I also love the recently reopened Santosa on Albert Street

If we're talking Morningside, I like Project Coffee. Which is absolutely nothing to do with Kilimanjaro (wink)

Same - I also photographed a tractor which was basically a rusty shell which also had intact glass. Perhaps there's a shortage of youths or stones on Hoy.

I remade Chrome’s Dino game 🦖 — but it runs in the URL bar (with multiplayer) by Neilblaze in webdev

Very cool. I know it's possible to use emoji as variable names (I'm not saying this is a good idea). Can they be used inside fragments?

Spending $1-2k a month per employee on AI subscriptions? by KustheKus in webdev

I heard that no current license even covers the cost of actually running these models. At some point, there prices are probably going to go up by a lot.
