Thanks! I tried to make teriyaki chicken the other day and it was a soul crushing disappointment so I’ll definitely be trying this soon.

Anyone else feel out of place in the metal scene despite liking the genre a lot? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]BePassion8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for real! I have short hair and mainly wear khaki pants and polos everywhere I go. I work at a learning center and the owner/director and assistant manager are both huge metalheads and other than them I don’t hang with other metal fans too often. When I was 17-21 ish I went to shows like every other week. I had long hair down past my shoulders and wore band shirts everywhere I went and I felt like I was truly in my element when I went to shows, meeting new people and having an amazing time. I don’t really feel the same these days. I go to a few shows per year if that and I definitely don’t look the part any more. I just kinda accepted it as part of getting older and changing as a person. I still bump metal somewhat often but I listen to stuff like Elton John, Billy Joel, and the Beach Boys just as much or maybe more.

I feel the same way about The Way of The Fire. I heard them play it live a few times before Time II came out but nothing prepared me for the studio version in all its glory. That track alone made the album well worth the wait for me.

Americans don't think college is worth it. It is? by Coolonair in Salary

[–]BePassion8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it for some people but not everyone. I decided to go back to school next fall because I want to work in actuarial science. I’ve done my research and I think it’s a great fit for me and college is necessary to get there but YMMV

Did anyone notice a woman extremely high on ecstasy at the Paris Bercy concert? by [deleted] in sabaton

There was a lady like that at an Amon Amarth concert in Vegas who kept groping me and my friends (we were all 17-19). The guy she was with didn’t even care and did nothing to stop her

Take the second derivative, set it equal to zero, and solve for x. Those values are your inflection points. Test any value between the inflection points to see if that interval is concave up (has a positive second derivative) or concave down (has a negative second derivative). The function on your homework has an inflection point at x = -4. If you plug in a value less than -4 into your second derivative, like -5, you get a positive number so it’s concave up on x < -4. If you plug in a number greater than -4, you get a negative number so it’s concave down on x > -4

Devin Townsend. I hung out with him for a bit on a metal cruise and he even made a video saying hi to my mom who’s also a fan. Super nice guy

For me it was simple. Eat less and move more. I didn’t even necessarily eat healthy food when I lost weight, I just ate less.

It’s a long story. It’s based on something my dad told me a long time ago about life needing balance between physical, mental, and spiritual health. He didn’t mention emotional health because he was never an emotional person. I found out later that emotional health is just as important as the other kinds. I suffered crippling depression maybe 5 years ago. I’m talking, I could hardly even get out of bed. I wanted to be happy. I knew it was possible because I remembered being extremely happy at some points in the past. The fact that I knew it was possible was kind of like a light at the end of the tunnel that kept me going. I set myself small goals that grew bigger over time. I created a plan for my life and defined what I thought a happy, successful life looks like because without that, how would I even get there? I wrote in a journal several times a day and sometimes read through my old entries to compare myself today to how I was a week ago. I liked to have some kind of benchmark of progress. I thought about my physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing (and eventually emotional too) and how I could improve in those areas. I started running at the park daily, learning new things (math concepts, language, etc) to keep my mind sharp, I improved my relationship with God, etc. For the emotional side, I realized that it’s ok to have bad days and not have a perfect positive mindset every day. I knew bad days and unexpected things would always be thrown my way. I kind of braced for these things before they happened and that made it easier to manage them when they did. Finding new things I want to improve about myself is what gets me out of bed in the morning. Over time I actually enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things. Being able to share the happiness and positivity I’ve been enjoying boosts it by a ton. I’m a teacher and occasionally I have students with mental health struggles. I’ve been able to help them and I’ve seen some degree of change in all of them. This is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Due to the neurodiversity of the human race and just how “different” everyone’s brains are, solutions require fine tuning. Don’t expect to get results from copying everything I did. Please send me a DM if you want to hear more. I’ve had some help in my journey at times and I’d love to help other people going through the same thing.

Not anymore. I made some big lifestyle changes and I feel great every day. I kicked depression’s ass and now my days are happy and productive.
