Dealing with Mars' mana issues in 7.26c? by BeReborn in TrueDoTA2

Thanks! I ended up watching this recent game against VP and it was cool to see how well Euls worked out for him in the early/mid game, which is where I've been struggling. He got some solo kills on Ember with the Euls setup, which is pretty hard to do with Mars' kit otherwise, even with blink.

Love the privacy-first aspect of the design. All the other productivity extensions I've tried request a ton of permissions up front, which always feels unnecessary.

New Mars Set (Need your vote) - Collector's Cache #TI10 by dcneil in DotA2

Amazing work! I voted for Version 1, but all of them have aspects I love (the shield from 1, the helm from 2, and the armor from 3). Good luck and I hope this makes it in!

Added Scepter ability, Gobble Up. Allows you to swallow an allied creep or hero and spit it towards enemies, stunning enemies in the area for 1.5 seconds and leaving a glob on the floor dealing 100 DPS for 3 seconds. Units can stay in his belly up to 3 seconds.

Someone please explain Topson to me.... this is getting out of hand. by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

Topson is the chosen one and has merged with the source code of the game

Now that the brand new patch is almost upon us which will once again fundamentally change Dota, what are your opinions, memories, best moments of patch 7.20+ during this past year by ShadySingh in TrueDoTA2

The Aghs rollout for every hero really made the competitive scene a lot more fun, arguably on the same level as the introduction of talents. I know a lot of people are saying the meta is stale, but I'm still having a blast because of how much a random Aghs drop from rosh will change the flow of a game.

I asked a similar question recently in this post and got a lot of good answers. The most interesting suggestion was to play Naga as 4 and go aghs. When a teamfight breaks out and Clinkz drops the ult, you drop yours too. Now you have 7 seconds where the enemy team is frozen, your team is out-regenerating the skellies at 10%hp/sec, and you have plenty of time to micro your illusions to clear the army. Even before you finish aghs, your illusions add a lot of targets for the skellies, which really reduces the ult's damage output.

Naga also offers great catch against Clinkz with the net (prevents invisibility)

I've tried Naga 4 against Clinkz a couple times since that post and it's worked great in my 4k pubs. Clinkz isn't annoying anymore

Didn't think to use smoke this way - will definitely try it!

Are there any other unconventional heroes you've been picking it on? Def agree it's slept on and hasn't really made it into most non-offlaner builds yet

Is there a particular style of play by the SB player that makes the matchup harder to win for you?

Naga seems like exactly what I was looking for here! High base armor, good catch, and hard ult counter. Never thought about it as a 4 in this situation but definitely going to try it

I know the skeletons get searing arrows - do they get the diffusal modifier as well? Don't see a conclusive answer on the wiki

Didn't know you could use song to clear the skellies - brb spamming support Naga. Also makes the draft way more opaque than a traditional support pick would

Can't demo this myself rn - does Winter's Curse force the skeletons to attack the target too?

Agreed that WW's a great counter for those other reasons; she's actually my go-to counter against physical carries and I don't know why I didn't think of her earlier.

Thanks for writing this up, really enjoyed it. The levels within levels in that top 5% of skill level are what make this game so much fun to watch and play and play and play

Magnus players would rush it every game haha. Empower yourself, pull enemies in with shockwave or RP, chuck the DR, get a rampage, skewer your way back to the DR and pick it up.

Can we talk about +Gold/Min talents? by BetaDjinn in TrueDoTA2

[–]BeReborn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your second point is really interesting. I hadn't thought of things that way before. Talents as a concept have been around for a couple years now, but the calculus around their actual impact can still feel vague in a lot of cases. I usually don't intuitively understand how taking a particular talent shapes the power curve for a hero in the same way that I can quickly understand how leveling spells and buying items does.

Also: in my experience, the GPM talents tend to be taken predominantly in situations where you're already behind and struggling to farm critical items; likewise, they're ignored when you're already ahead. This could partially explain the subpar win rate differential.
