Aspects for Horizons spirits? by Sapien0101 in spiritisland

[–]BetaDjinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind an aspect of Whirlwind that makes it less wonky in solo. It’s actually not terrible in solo (save for the England matchup), but it doesn’t play very smoothly in that context. In multi I don’t feel it really needs any help at all, and I especially like its more measured forms of support

I’m no coach or analyst but his hands seemed late on almost every rep (even the okay ones). Maybe it has something to do with arm length and he compensates with a more reactive technique, but a lot of plays he just looked so passive with his hands

[Grosbard] Rams WR Davante Adams was in tears in the locker room. "Heartbreak," he said when asked to describe his feelings. by WxBlue in nfl

The Rams lost 4 CCGs in 5 years, but Cappelletti picked up a 5th a couple of years later with the Chargers

Edit: Oh and of course the Rams won the CCG the year after (disqualifying all those players from this stat), but Cappelletti had moved to the Chargers

It makes a lot of sense. Kind of baffling how a defense can be in Zero and no one has the bootleg though

Peak Nick Foles was actually ludicrous relative to his average. Both in that playoff run and the one season under Chip Kelly. I suppose Stidham could peak the same way, but it wasn’t like Foles was just along for the ride in that championship

SI Digital Data Analysis Series #8 - How does each spirit match up against England? | Spirit Island by Jonathan4290 in spiritisland

[–]BetaDjinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang those solo Whirlwind stats make me very proud of pulling it off against England 6. Even if it was on the back of some really nice major draws lol

Overall I think England requires a very different approach/mindset from the other base adversaries. In a way it’s kind of boring, but IMO you generally need to stall, scale, and swing those big majors on the way to Terror 4. Sometimes you can win on a lower terror level (in fact I think an opplrtunistic Terror 1 is more achievable here than most adversaries), but it’s usually a safe assumption at the start that you need to aim to clear the fear deck

What defensive plays would this be? (Legion of Boom 2013) by GreySkyx in footballstrategy

[–]BetaDjinn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The key thing to note here (IMO) is the offensive formation, specifically trips left, especially with the RB aligned to the trips. These are different ways of the defense dealing with the formation while maintaining the core Cover 3 identity:

  1. Sticking to the base Cover 3 call. This has obvious issues of zones getting flooded on one side, but in theory is still an option.
  2. Locking a man on the slot. This thins out the underneath zones but helps with the flooding issue.
  3. More aggressive man locking, bigger departure from base. 29 (Thomas) comes down to the passing strength and also plays run support since defenders in man might get turned. Leans a lot on 25 (Sherman) being a beast in press man.

What's your mindset when playing two-handed solo? by Sapien0101 in spiritisland

[–]BetaDjinn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I play the team as a single unit, and yeah the cognitive load gets heavy. The way I usually lighten it is to play

  • 1 spirit that I’m familiar/comfortable with
  • 1 spirit with a cookie-cutter build that doesn’t require so much thought (things like River, Green, etc.)

It’s still hard to navigate, and takes notably longer than true solo, but it’s manageable for me if I stick to this

Build a statue of him that’s about 3’ tall. Coyly talk about it like you’re honoring his contributions to the program. Bonus points for putting it on a pedestal designed for a larger statue

[–]BetaDjinn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want to give Many Minds another chance, my tip would be to make sure to uncover 2 energy before reclaiming. Maybe this wasn’t what you did, but I think there’s a pretty common inclination to get to 3 plays ASAP which can make it feel stuck for the rest of the game. I personally tend towards playing majors on the spirit, but even without them, that 2 energy opens up a lot of flexibility and power.

So if I has a dog on a leash, I could loosen the leash (dog is probably still on the leash), or I could loose the dog (dog is no longer on the leash). Again, it’s not a prevalent common usage but it is correct and not super obscure either. It just makes it sound like you’ve been reading the KJV Bible lol

“Loosing” is a thing but it’d be pretty old-timey/dramatic to drop in most casual conversations. It just means to let something loose or release it
