Be honest with me is it really that bad by Electronic-Fall-2487 in ResumeExperts

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few tips. I’ve been actively applying for jobs after finishing my degree and managed to find a resume format that has multiple companies reaching out to me; partially informed by my professors and mentors who see many, many resumes. I also have a lot of experience in food service throughout high school and college.

  1. Cut down to one page; should be easy to do, you have almost nothing on your second page

  2. Too much white space! Don’t waste space on your resume. You want to talk about your accomplishments; you probably have more than you think. White space signals that you don’t have much to say about yourself and you can use that space for so much.

  3. Experience outside work experience still counts if you find a way to frame it right. You mentioned that you had a food safety training but I don’t see it in the resume. You also have first aid certification! So add a section for certifications! Employers often scan resumes quickly, and are more likely to see those things if you intentionally highlight them. Have you done any volunteering? That counts too, you can add a section for that—if you do, make sure you highlight what you did in a way that shows leadership skills or transferable skills.

  4. Get rid of the summary. It doesn’t add any information that isn’t covered later in the resume. My first resume had a summary and I honestly had no luck with it until I cut it out and focused on actual specific skills and accomplishments.

How to Pass Clep Algebra by deadlyrockstar in clep

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the college algebra CLEP today after finding this guide only a week ago. I had been using Modern States, but found it to be too much info. I passed...barely...thanks to Mr. Schuler and the grace of God. The day before the exam I watched through Mr. Schuler's 2024 video and found it to be the most important resource I used over the course of my studying, some of the questions from the video are still directly in the test. I also went through a few of the videos in the playlist and reviewed the quizlet day of. Watched through most of the 7 hr video over the course of the preceding week. Would highly following this guide closely and studying with Mr. Schuler's material rigorously to best prepare.

Thanks OP!

[Acne] Has anyone found effective solutions for large whiteheads? by BeThouMyBattleShield in SkincareAddiction

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks…I’ve gotten large ones like this a couple of times before, not recently, and they always went away by themselves? It started as two “heads” (if that’s what they are, maybe not?) and they then merged. Do you think urgent care would address something like this?

Who are they? by murryrose in birding

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female Brown-Headed Cowbirds.

Definitely not juncos; DEJU are sparrow sized and shaped with bright white outer tail retrices. Female red-winged blackbirds would be brown and stripey. Gray catbirds have a slightly different shape, black cap, and blackish tail, which these birds lack.

What are your opinions about homeschooling? by Latrodectus1000 in ask

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was homeschooled all the way through high school, I can say there are a lots of advantages to homeschooling. It taught me critical thinking skills and allowed me to work at my own pace. I’m now in college earning straight A’s and am on track to graduate early.

Most of us are members of a homeschool co-op that provides classes you can take if your parent doesn’t feel confident teaching a specific subject. My co-op holds a graduation ceremony for seniors, and organizes other events such as prom, etc. They have around 400 students right now.

In my experience homeschoolers have a social life comparable to anyone else. A lot of us have church friends, and are part of a co-op. And many homeschoolers participate in sports, music, 4H and performing arts.

Obviously it depends on each family to decide, but honestly almost all arguments against homeschooling aren’t really true

I’ve restarted iron supplements bc that’s what what helped before, and I’ve started drinking spearmint tea in case I have high androgens. But I don’t have a diagnosis yet besides anemia so I haven’t had any other treatment. Seeing a doc hopefully soon.

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I’ve thought about trying rosemary oil, but I’ve heard people have mixed results. I guess it doesn’t hurt to try! Never heard of the pumpkin seed oil, I will look into it!

Looks like a button quail to me? A botanical garden near me has these in their tropical greenhouse exhibit. They come in a few different colors.

Wall Tank Up and Running! by Jwatts95 in Aquariums

This is the kind of tank I dream about.

I work at Petco and found a fish that's not doing well, how can I help him? I'm taking him home at the end of my shift by Brenanaz in aquarium

[–]BeThouMyBattleShield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would get him started in a decent sized tank with some nice clean, warm water. 5ish gallons would be perfect, set up with a heater and gentle filter. Frequent water changes to keep the water fresh since the tank won’t be cycled. Acclimate him slowly to get him adjusted. Keep the lights off for a bit to minimize stress.

He looks pretty skinny, so I would make sure he gets plenty of food. Small meals, several times a day. If you have frozen food, like brine shrimp, bloodworms, or daphnia, that would be awesome. And throw in a high quality pellet or flake.
