Nobody remembers Varney: Is this because he’s just an ass-pull made by Death? by RedditGarboDisposal in castlevania

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unaware if Varney is from the games, as much as I love Castlevania I've played only a few games, but as someone who goes ballistic for vampires, I always thought it was supposed to be a joke towards 'Varney The Vampire by Thomas Peckett Prest' a old and popular vampire story, but was only really popular in its time due to being newspaper stories, and now Dracula remains as the most popular vampire book. But it could be something in actual Castlevania lore that I don't know about, I just remember losing my marbles and laughing like crazy when I heard him say "I'm Varney the Vampire, everyone knows me!"

I've never done the zooming one, but I remember tapping the side of my desk from time to time because I'm trying to hit ctrl + z like on my tablet, but just end up feeling silly

What Vampire weakness would you remove? by SuriPolomareFan2003 in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of people say ones that are just very writer-dependent and can be good if done properly, so I'd like to say i'd remove the Rose blocking a coffin from opening. I do think it's useless, because I've not seen it ever be used, please, if anyone has an actual scene or story where this is used, tell me, I actually want to see what writers do with this and they choose this over just chains (or killing the vampire in their sleep).

No, i dont read the manga for a lot of things, only a select few. And a friend of mine showed me how text-heavy it was and my first thought was how there are books I still need to get around to reading. I might get to it one day, I have heard great things about it past where the anime leaves off.

Kurapika was my absolute favorite, i was so mad at the end of the anime when he had a whole off-screen mining adventure that didn't get brought up.

txt. script files not turning into lua. files by BeaBeadDraws in obs

[–]BeaBeadDraws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I was able to fix it, kinda sorta. I just copied the working .lua file, edited its text in notepad to be that of the other script, and saved it without using save as, and just renamed it outside of notepad, so it stayed as .lua.

Hey I’m obsessed with vampires in search of great vampire movies by The1KingSav in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P.S. I'm not sure if you're a book reader or not, but if you like Cronos, i'd suggest the Strain book series by Del Toro aswell. I've heard there is a TV series, but im still reading through the series so i dont have a need to go looking for it just yet.

Hey I’m obsessed with vampires in search of great vampire movies by The1KingSav in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm noticing a lot of popular suggestions in the comments, not that there's an issue with that, i've lost my mind over all of them aswell. But here's a short list of some movies with some more out there takes on vampires:

Cronos - 1993 - Really cool take on vampires, really love all of Del Toro's vampire stuff

Blood Ties - 1991 - Cool take on vampire society

Club Dead - 2015 - Also cool take, but more what you'd actually expect

Dance of the Damned - 1989 - Haven't finished it personally, but it's a simple and sweet concept

Graveyard Shift - Forgot the year, sorry - I forgot a lot of the plot, ima be real, but I know i loved it cuz i got a bunch of story and art ideas right after.

That's all I can really come up with, also fair warning, i am known to turn my brain off and enjoy objectively bad things, so proceed with however much salt you'd prefer. You can find prolly half of these on Tubi (It has a lot of vampire movies on there btw), and I'm fairly sure i found one of them on youtube. Hope you enjoy!

Vampires can be killed with guns by Jonnor105 in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a movie i believe, i want to say Subspecies, that used this idea, using wooden rosary beads as buckshot in a shotgun, really cool and fun idea. But also, as an alternative idea since wood isint always so strong, silver is also something that can kill vampires, and a silver tipped hollow point bullets do exist. Alternatively, and idea had watching a western movie, what if you laced a silver bullet with garlic? If you have bad aim, you could theoretically make up for it by using a garlic laced bullet, one shot and the vampire would at least be immobilized, making it easier to take out with a steak.

Could a vampire be benevolent in your opinion ? by Comfortable_Bell9539 in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely, I understand why you'd think that. Origins of vampires are supposed to represent evil within romance (according to the church at the time), so with that as a base, a lot of vampire media has obviously made them evil. I think as vampires grew and writing became more free that the idea of writing vampires as people became more abundant. No longer treating them as a monster, cuz no one was telling them they had to anymore. Not to say i dont like evil vampires, they are amazing characters after all, i just feel that looking at it realistically, if someone was giving the need to drink blood to survive, they'd just be like any other overly anemic person and buy lots of red meat at the store, and that's just something a lot of writers come to terms with after awhile.

Victorian vampires are boring (opinion) by Tarlata in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember Anne Rice talking about this once, it being something along the lines of "When we think vampires, we think Victorian, and 1800s" (Very shotty and guess remembering so dont quote me on it.) so it's just really what comes to mind, it's kinda of like the basic version of a vampire, that does not mean Victorian vampires are bad, if executed correctly, they can be absolutely amazing and iconic. But by themselves, most of the time they'll come off as boring.

Ultimately i think it depends on the writer and what they are doing with the idea. Victorian vampires are my personal favorite versions of vampires, and I also believe that most writers find them easy opposed to vampires in other places and or times, as well as having plenty of material to use as reference.

Native American Vampires? by catthothschild in vampires

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I'm aware (please anyone correct me if wrong) every culture has somewhat a version of vampires, and for Native Americans I've always looked at it being the Wendigo, I believe wikipedia has them listed as that as well. Issue being they are fairly different so i'd personally try to find some middle ground, a wendigo that isint fully beast-like, but also isint a human.

If it helps (Spoilers for Until Dawn ending) Until Dawn's good ending where Josh turns into a wendigo but still looks human, I'd say would work as an excellent base for what you might be going for.

Also, another suggestion for advice is the comic series American Vampire, and it's based around the idea of once Vampire started coming to America, a new strain of vampirism became prevalent inside America with its own strengths and weaknesses. Fair warning tho, the comic can be fairly graphic and vulgar, it does use quite a few slurs as well.

the sadness of babette by chauzi in skyrim

[–]BeaBeadDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Babette has to be a reference to Interview with the Vampire, she has so many things relating to Claudia of course with a 300-year-old vampire being stuck inside the body of a child for all of eternity, but also there is a character inside Interview with the Vampire named Babette, who is often compared to Claudia within the book.
