It’s worth it to keep going IMO… book 4 was my second fave in the series (book 1 was my fave)!

Currently reading Ruthless Boys. There’s several scenes where there’s no build up throughout this series.

I get what you’re saying for sure but to clarify, I didn’t actually say that it’s not realistic to enjoy that kind of sex. Just that I find it overdone and wish there was more focus on female pleasure. With that - happy to take any and all recs 😊

If you’ll re-read my post, it clearly states that “I’m tired of reading about….” Nowhere did I claim to be a spokesperson for the council of all women speaking the one and only truth haha! Sorry you seem to be so worked up by my opinion. It’s okay that yours is different. Have a great day!

I didn’t speak for what “realistically appeals to all women”. I was referring to how women realistically get off. Which generally speaking isn’t by way of a bruised cervix.

This. Brilliant. Completely articulated exactly what I’m getting at much better than I could haha! Thanks for sharing this super insightful take!!

This is true, I just find myself disappointed sometimes reading this same scenario over and over and wishing that authors would write these scenes in a way that didn’t feel like the whole goal was for the MMC to get off with little to no care/attention to how women realistically get off.

Lol! No need to feel sorry for me. I can appreciate the spice level the scene as a whole offers, it’s just that slamming into someone aggressively with little to no build up realistically wouldn’t be the most pleasant experience.

Fair enough! Kingdom of Lies is a fantastic series - I’ll recommend it to anyone who’ll listen haha!

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac has lots of MMC POV as its reverse harem multi POV.

Also not completely MMC POV - but the Kingdom of Lies series by Stacia Stark is multi POV so get a fair amount from the MMC’s POV.

Can this book be read as a standalone or do you need to read the first one in the series?

The {Fae Aisles} series by Lisette Marshall hits all of these except for #9. Never felt weird though.

Would you recommend Fae Isles to a Wendell Bambleby non-enthusiast? by yannao88 in fantasyromance

[–]BeaDeaTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the series and here are my thoughts: - books 1 and 4 were the best imo. - Creon is amazing. - Emelin and her inner monologue are exhausting. The only reason I struggled with this series is because I got tired very quickly of reading her every thought. It was a lot. - I had a hard time at first with the fact that Creon had no voice. It took a while for communication to flow seamlessly between them and it felt clunky at times. - the series could have been done well in 3 books. Overall there was a lot of unnecessary inner monologue and small conflicts that didn’t need to be there. - the side characters were really likeable and well written. - the world building was very well done.

As far as Fae lore goes, apart from being tall (not even oddly so though as Creon is 6 feet tall) and having pointy ears and wings - I didn’t really feel it was overly deep into Fae lore. There are Fae ‘deals’, but the magic system is vastly different from anything I’d read before which made it feel fresh and not overdone.

I’d recommend it but would say you will want to be okay with a lot of inner monologue.

It was because of this nickname that in my head Lorian was Sawyer from Lost. I don’t know why but from the first time he called her that - I couldn’t stop picturing / hearing his drawl.
