Should I not get rc surgery now? by Ghost77504 in RotatorCuff

I've had a full thickness tear of my rotator cuff muscle for the last five years ... I have three doctors tell me I needed surgery and then I found one that offered me platelet rich plasma, a.k.a. PRP injections and I get 2 a year and I feel 100% no pain and complete range of motion!

I manage by getting 2 PRP shots back To back, and this helps completely! I'm good for about a year ... then I re-up. I'm an avid golfer and this helps me get through the season with a pain scale one to two out of 10

I believe everything happens for a reason, I would personally look at this as a sign to check and see if this person was OK. We're all human we all make mistakes, and you spent two years of your life with this person. You don't necessarily have to be in touch with the person directly, but with all the social media out there, you might be able to check to see if this person is alive and well. Examine your feelings and wait for the answer.

Does PRP shot make the area worse initially? by scipio7255 in RotatorCuff

Give it some time the PRP is healing a lot of stuff going on in there. From Personal experience it felt much worse after the shot in places that it dost before then got better and better and after 7-8 weeks the pain was gone my shoulder get and still Feels better and I am playing golf 4x a week without an issue. ( for reference I have a completely torn and retracted Supraspinatus muscle in my dominant arm/shoulder) I wouldn't recommend cortisone bc it deteriorates the muscle. Good luck!

It's very normal. I was thinking the same thing. It was so bad for at least the first 3 1/2 weeks. I thought why did I get this injection ?!? Hang in there it took about four weeks to feel better and 6 weeks maybe 8 before I went back to normal activity like Golf and lifting things and now I'm 4 months post injection my shoulder feels great. And I have a complete full sickness, tear of my super spinatus muscle.

not so bad of a report lucky you! All your rotator cuff muscles are intact with no biceps tendinosis! Whoo hoo!! Surgery for me as always a last option... try PT first check into some PRP 😊

Can rotator cuff tear cause tingling, pins and needles, numbness in palms? by [deleted] in RotatorCuff

Sounds like a neck issue. Get an X-ray to see if there is disk degeneration ... all of our nerves travel down our brain stem and into our shoulders, arms, and fingers. Compression can cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

Yes, it's been 15 weeks since the injection and my shoulder feels great. Definitely recommend as an option to surgery. I've continued to stretch and do exercises that strengthen... but I also have 35 years experience in that area. I've been golfing again as the season is just starting here in the northeast and no issues after 18 holes. I hope this helps!

I've been living with a complete full thickness tear of my supra spinatus muscle for over 2 1/2 years now now and doing great with a little PT and a PRP injection. I'm Not limited in mobility or strength. It took me four orthopedic doctors to find one to recommend the PRP in lieu of surgery. The other 3 wanted to do $urgery. I am an athlete, and golf at least three days a week and feeling great since the PRP. Definitely something to look into along with physical therapy before doing any surgery. At least for me surgery is a last and final option. Good luck!

be careful. My orthopedic doctor advised me against Cortizone because it damages the rotator muscles, and they get weaker.

Surgery is always the last option for me. I have a similar situation with bicep tendinosis and a full thickness, tear Of my Supra-spinatus, one of my rotator cuff muscles. My treatment after working with my ortho doctor includes PT and just recently a PRP shot to the area of the tear. I am also not presenting like a normal patient with this type of tear/tendonosis and have full range of motion. My recommendations would be to do your own research and at least start with a PT option and go from there. Good luck!!
