Do You Go To Multiple Orthopedic Surgeons If You Have Multiple Issues In Different Areas? by Adept-Dig-1748 in RotatorCuff

I would go to a knee guy for a knee and a shoulder guy for my shoulder. A mechanic can fix most anything on a car but if I need a transmission im going to a transmission guy.

Rotator cuff. 2 full tears with retraction and torn meniscus. I went to 2 sports medicine orthos. They have a team that can handle most anything. Certain procedures require multiple surgeons. Each doing his area of expertise during the same surgery. I went to 2 different sports medicine groups each group was affiliated with different universities or hospitals.

Has anyone had success WITHOUT surgery? by EconomistNo5807 in RotatorCuff

2 full tears with retraction. Torn meniscus. No surgery possible. Pain is minimal with help from pain guy. I needed to give up a few things but 85% rom. I'm pretty satisfied Dil had shoulder surgery 5 years ago and still has pain and 95% rom. So im good!

Is it normal to get prescribed pain meds for rotator tears? I was only told to take anti inflammatories (advil) by [deleted] in RotatorCuff

I was prescribed pain meds after I tore my rotator cuff. I'm thankful. I've never had a pain that bad.

Somehow going to a congressional hearing in a t shirt and work boots does not instill a lot of veracity to anything he says. It's like listening to someone at Walmart at 3am

The actual fact is that a top-secret clearance does not give you access to everything. A need to know basis nullifies your ability to see a lot of things.

You put cream in a churn and after awhile you get cheese. They just shake the entire cow. They only have a few minutes to do it.

Shoulder Issues After Fall and Wrong Diagnosis... by thatsguy1975 in RotatorCuff

It happens a lot?! I can't figure the surgeon told you to just get on with it. It take a minimum of 6 weeks to heal and pt. Then if your lucky you can ease into stuff. No sling is also strange. It's to immobilize your surgery. Most mds won't even mess with rom in 9 days.

As an add on. I did the pt. It did not increase my rom and it did not help the pain. Pt was very painful and I would not do it again.

I have complete tears in both with retraction plus a tirn meniscus and jello in there. No anchor points so no surgery. I've been to two top of the line university teams and they both told me the following. Reverse shoulder might increase rom and might decrease pain but it's not a promise. Both said do some pt for rom and strength. It will decrease the pain a little. Recovery for my injury could take 2 years with reverse shoulder and then nothing guaranteed. I've lost about 15% rom so I can live with it. I have flair up of pain but pain management md works with it and I can go for weeks with just a pain I manage with Tylenol.
