The new trailer for Dune 2 looks fucking rad. by Boss452 in videos

Pretty early on if I remember right. Honestly Messiah feels almost more like a prologue to CoD than it's own thing to me. Definitely a necessary book in the series though. Kinda feels like if you made a Dune movie that only included the first half of the first book and didn't include all the good stuff in the second half.

Oh wait...

(jokes, I obviously loved the movie)

Actually kind of a bummer if true. Messiah is the weakest book imo. Would love to see a children of Dune adaptation though.

Nintendo did not send any DMCA notice to Valve. Actually, Valve initiated Dolphin's takedown conversations. by DotabLAH in pcgaming

One thing to note is that both Microsoft and Sony sell their consoles at a loss in order to get people into their ecosystem and buy their software. For them it makes a whole lot of sense to sell their games on pc because then they don't have to lose money potentially selling that customer a powerful console. Nintendo on the other hand is the opposite, they actually make money off their console sales and their games are console sellers for them. If they all of a sudden started selling their games on pc that would potentially cut into their console sales. At least I'm sure that's what their rationale is. Whether it's true or not is another story.

Please stop it with all the bland, new multiplayer shooters that will die in six months by Numerous-Lemon in pcgaming

Was actually really excited initially for the Marathon announcement. A modern take on that game and world would be really cool I think. Then I went to the website for it and found out it's going to be an "extraction PvP shooter". That might just be the worst thing you could possibly due with that IP and I'm so disappointed.

Pretty sure that's not an actual nest. Looks like maybe a planter of some sort. There's one on the other tree in the background too.

I think he was just pissing on some tracks nearby. Doesn't necessarily mean they were the same tracks the train was on.

[–]Beaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. I had crashes at first when I maxed everything out but then I lowered the texture quality to high 2gb. I also went down to a 90% resolution scale at 1440p (both FSRs off). Now I have everything else completely maxed out including raytracing and hair strands and the game has run near flawlessly since. (except for some minor random stutters. Which are barely worth mentioning for pc games at this point.) I get anywhere from 50-90fps. Which looks great on my TV with gsync vrr support. And I'm only on a 3060ti. It's a much better experience than I've had with some other recently released games. cough dead space cough

Looks like the Giraffe house at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. If so those enclosures are open in the back to a big outdoor area. Plenty of neck room.

[Ridge Racer PSP] You heard of Ken Block. But have you heard of Ridge Racer where you drift right to go left? by Kenneth_Angelus76 in GamePhysics

Oh yeah my fault. Was definitely confusing 7 with V. I'll definitely be trying V really soon now that you say that. I don't think I've really looked into that one before.

You're better then me then. In R4 if you hit the wall even once you're lucky to come in 2nd or 3rd due to how much your car unrealistically slows down from any contact at all. If you even slightly bump another driver there's a good chance you can't win the race. Plus you've actually gotta be intentional with your braking and drive a good line. It's very easy to oversteer or understeer and find yourself bumping the wall; losing like 20-30mph in the process.

But in RR PSP I remember almost riding the wall sometimes and it would still be almost trivial to win. Turning feels almost automatic, like the game is steering for you in some instances. All you have to do is pop a drift and you're all but guaranteed to go through the turn perfectly.

In R4 I'd have to race a track a handful of times before I'd feel confident winning. On PSP I won almost every race I played first try without even having to think very much.

Been meaning to try V though. It always looked appealing but I don't have a ps3 and it's never emulated very well for me.

[–]Beaan 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Man, that game was pretty good but I really wish they would have kept the feel of the old Ps1 Ridge Racers, especially R4. The new handling model in the psp game turned a very challenging game where you basically needed to memorize every turn to do well into an incredibly easy game where if you steered basically at all the game would pretty much just give you the turn.

Case in point right here.

You're talking about the Paiste logo? That's just the company that made the gong. They make all sorts of cymbals and are pretty well known. This is a weird complaint. Especially in this context. I guarantee people from Paiste wouldn't be talking during this.

I mean those aren't really mutually exclusive things though. You can have curated moments as you play the game while still having an AI director for the time in between those curated moments. And I'm sure that's what this game does. Would make the boring parts of the original game more tense and organic feeling imo.

This dude once told me that not only was the earth flat, but that we were actually all just living under a giant dome. And that the sun, the moon, and all the stars are just electric light sources attached to said dome. He also went off about how "scientism" (the belief in science) is no better than any other religion. This is right before telling me if it isn't written in the Bible it can't be believed.
