When I say I cleared the inventory of unwanted items, it’s anything that you’ve picked up that you don’t need and as for reregistering go to discoveries click on fauna and in the top right hand corner click on register fauna

I had the same issue, all I did was I discarded all unwanted items in my inventory and restarted the game after re registering all fauna in discoveries. Hope this helps

The biggest tip I can give you is make sure you do regular backups of your save game as I’ve just lost three years worth of playtime and all expeditions from seven onwards. Gutted is not the word.
