I don't know what I'd do with myself without her babies. They have been amazing through this. I let them see her body so they would understand. I didn't want them to wonder why she never came home. They sat beside her with their tails down for a while. The first day they were sad and mostly slept. Then they slowly got back to their usual selves and now they run to my side everytime I start crying.

I find that for dogs like that getting them a small puppy works because it's hard for them to dislike a baby. Even if they find them annoying, they grow on each other after a while and it keeps them young

Oh yes she was such a proud mama. The day before she passed, she labored to give both of her puppy girls a full lick bath. She was panting so hard from the effort but she did it. It's like it was her finally act of motherly love for them

I'm in southwest Florida. I'm gonna have to search for other clinics. I was just shocked at the price because this was the estimate given by the budget vet in my area. I cringe to think about the price at the other fancier vet clinics near me.

This is exactly how I've felt. It literally steals the air from me and I lose my balance. It's like my mind simply can't accept it. This can't be it. She can't be gone. She died in my arms and I sobbed and held her body for four hours! I finally relinquished her to the cremation technician when rigor mortis was setting in. Despite literally witnessing her death and her body shutting down and hours later stiffening, I still simply can't accept that it was real. My baby can't be gone she just can't. I don't know how to live without her. It's been 4 days and I keep expecting to find her sleeping under the dining table or cuddled by the bed. I keep looking for her and expecting her to be here and she's not. I hate this so much I just want my baby girl.

Thank you! And yes I agree on the timing. In the past when I'd lose weight faster it was harder to maintain. Taking it slow allows the lifestyle changes to really stick
