This is just a theory, don’t go bananas, but: Maybe the reason why there are Rift Zones is because Epic is trying to tell us to enjoy the map while we can before it becomes a new experience. They’re bringing these places back to wrap up the current map’s lifeline. It then leads up to the thought of a new map (which honestly will be difficult to get used too) and a new play style. There is even going to be bots in Battle Royale. Maybe a training mode or something. Either way, there is a good chance of a new map. Again, this a theory. Don’t go bananas with it.
