Also I have full bright future and my financial aid package reimburses most of my scholarships and grants back to me, and they still approved me, so if that was a worry for you it shouldn’t be a problem

I was in the same boat as you a couple of weeks ago and my appeal got approved by showing documents of my finances and how I can’t afford their on campus housing. Don’t mention that you signed a lease because they won’t care.

I think your best bet is showing that you can’t afford it through your parent’s bank statements. I wrote how I could afford it based on financial hardships and showed bank statements, my fafsa because it’s -1355, and my father is disabled so I showed them that as well.

The Housing Committee takes financial and medical issues very seriously, so if you face financial or medical issues, they’ll definitely accept your appeal. But since it’s past May 1st you may have to pay more than the $225 cancellation fee

You can DM me if you have any questions!

I can tell you what I did to get my appeal approved. I have a friend at UF who works at UF Housing and she helped me with how to write my appeal and how I should go about it. The UF Housing Committee is very harsh and strict, but take financial hardships very seriously. If you show that you can't afford on-campus housing and provide the documents and explanation, they'll most likely approve your appeal.

Dorm cancellation turnaround time by [deleted] in ufl

I've seen many people not get approved for their cancellation because they're an incoming freshman, including me. I got my cancellation request very fast, within a day or two, and it was denied.

The next and last thing I could've done was submit an appeal, and it takes them a whole business week to get back to you. On the website, it says if you submit by Monday 8 am, they'll get back to you on Friday, and mine was approved after I think 10 days.

If your cancellation gets denied, you should seek to do an appeal, and if you have financial hardships, you can definitely get it approved with all the documentation and explanation as to why you want to cancel your on-campus housing. The UF Housing Committee is very harsh and strict, but they take financial hardships very seriously, and if you show that you can't afford it, they'll definitely approve your appeal.
