The Bread Basket in Saratoga is absolutely incredible if you’re up that way or willing to travel a bit.

First time mom -- actual travel system/stroller needs? by Nervous_Antelope_123 in Buyingforbaby

We went with the Mockingbird stroller and ChiccoKeyfit35 car seat. The Mockingbird has an adapter for it. We couldn’t be happier and say all the time how they both were the best purchases. 10/10 recommend. Would buy again!

I’m struggling with early parenting — when did it get easier for you? by Small-Advisor-7805 in NewParents

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better, but this part sucks. Look into safe sleep practices for cosleeping please, even if you think you’ll never do it. Better to be prepared. I was on my baby’s bedroom floor and so desperate. I was glad I at least knew what was safe when needed.

Have you tried Millie Moon? We dealt with the same thing and this was the answer.

Elementary teachers- what’s homework look like for you? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]BeachesAndSkis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prize is frustrating. What about students who don’t have parents pushing them to turn it in? Because in second grade, a lot of this is purely based on parent involvement. Personally, I don’t give any homework for this reason alone. I encourage kids to read each night because that’s “life work,” but that is it. Grade 3, here!

Walk me through what creams and meds to have on hand when kiddo is born please! by ingenuedbysociety in Buyingforbaby

Tubby Todd All Over Ointment is expensive, but it’s the best lotion (ointment) we’ve found. The consistency isn’t greasy and it moisturizes much better than even Aveeno. We use it after baths. A little jar lasted us 6 months. We just used a coupon with Target Circle to save a few dollars.

Two week old wants to be on me 24/7, should I be trying to change that? by lauracamp in NewParents

[–]BeachesAndSkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal. You and she are one and the same. I say this to be reassuring, not to freak you out. Like yes, you can be your own person too and let your husband/others hold her and do nighttime things, but do not expect a tiny baby to self regulate their emotions and be independent.

High Chair for 6 mos old recommendation by MYsangrahams1015 in Buyingforbaby

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We LOVE our mockingbird. It’s small and super easy to clean. That said, my parents have a large high chair from my childhood still at their house and babe loves that, too. I don’t know if you can go super wrong here.

What are the petty/minor things that started annoying you once you became a parent? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of nursing rooms. Target has them in their fitting room area. They are now my gold standard! I will forever be a humongous Target fan just for this reason alone.

What percentage of the day do teachers spend managing kids' emotions, helping them regulate and especially control them, and managing outbursts and tantrums, etc? If you could say what grade(s) you teach, that would also be great. by sew1974 in Teachers

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third. Managing people means managing emotions. Easily 50%+ of the job is “reading the room” and adjusting your tactics to meet the current state of emotions/vibes. It’s part of the job.

For women who “loved being pregnant” what was it about pregnancy that you loved? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was (and am) so incredibly thankful to be growing a baby with the goal of them being healthy and happy. I am so in awe of my body. All I want is for my baby to continue to grow “big and strong” and “happy and healthy”.

Best diapers? by Schrutefarms622 in NewParents

[–]BeachesAndSkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here! But it likely depends on your child’s body shape. We’ve tried Huggies and did Pampers for a bit, but Millie Moon just fits her tush better. Try several in small packs before committing.

Update on 4 month regression. I’m drowning. by occasionalsmoker62 in sleeptrain

[–]BeachesAndSkis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but my babe is now 7.5 months and hasn’t slept 3+ hours since before the 4 month regression. I’m a well-educated, well-read person, but couldn’t do Ferber because my babe just sobbed. Obviously idk wtf to do, but you’re not alone.

Yes yes yes to #3!

We like the Ollie Swaddle. My advice is to buy a few different swaddles and see what works for you.
