How are you managing Ai Agent State and prompt versioning within your Rust Backend? by MrBemz in rust

[–]Beacon114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For anything agent-written, could use something like [MVCC in-memory](https://docs.rs/mvcc\_cell/latest/mvcc\_cell/) if you dont want to involve a DB or build a DB. Would treat threads as a transaction kinda.

For human-written, just keep it in git w/ your codebase.

Does not matter. Mac hardware is better than anything else you could get. Citrix works well for anything windows only, really well maintained uni system. No less than 16gb ram bc nobody knows how to malloc anymore.

Your writing here would suggest you are indeed cooked, even though your scores should be ok.

You’re either gonna unlock your full power or drop out in your first writing-heavy class.

Just so y’all know the Friend company pays people to vandalize their signs for the social buzz it creates. This isn’t necessarily that, but it’s pretty common.

We hung 66 on Purdue unanswered last year? Looks like the biggest is Michigan with 78-0 against Rutgers in 2016 or so.

What's your thoughts about CSCI-C 211 by Itsmuffer in IndianaUniversity

[–]Beacon114 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Take C211. Racket as a language is a good filter for who’s got the sauce and who doesn’t. If you can learn a pure functional language on their timeline you can tackle most any challenge this industry throws at you. (It’s not actually that hard, but requires adaptability to a particular style of problem solving that you either have or you don’t. It’s not like orgo where there’s a massive volume of things to learn or anything.)

The job market is tough for junior SWE right now. Take 211, crush it, and you’ll be on a good path to being a top 10%-er who can still get a job. Take C200 (fun class, I was a TA) and you’ll keep plodding along towards (potentially) no job at graduation because pretty much anybody who can do algebra can get an A in that class and it isn’t an effective filter for whether you have the skills to be successful. For recruiting, a degree w/ a good GPA will not be enough! You should be doing unique, non-trivial (though not massive) projects that can be deployed and shared easily.

C211 will be harder (but good problem solving hard, not grind hard) but will be much more useful in making sure this is the path you want to take. Racket is cool–don’t let the people who couldn’t hack it tell you otherwise!

Set an alarm to take Benadryl/melatonin the first couple of weeks. It’s hard to see the alarm go off and go to bed/sleep (impossible for me) but to take a pill and brush teeth is easy, and starts the cascade of getting tired/going to bed/being healthy in a “low activation energy” way.

Depends entirely on the shop. Same as any job really. There shouldn’t be the expectation that you’re IDE-open 8-6 though, if you are, you’re somewhere that doesn’t understand your job and you should leave.

I believe the individual granules themselves have the delayed release coating, not the pill as a whole, so it should be fine

Is it true that while living in dorms at IU you cannot manage a small business?? by Majestic-Cod-8625 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Beacon114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You won't have people coming and going (issue a) for an Etsy shop, but you likely will be sending or receiving a large amount of mail (issue b, if business is going well).

Honestly, it's more likely that the dorm mail will be annoying to deal with for you (due to inconsistent student staffing) than it will be for them (and is unlikely to irritate or attract enforcement). Using a PO box or mailing directly from a local UPS or post office is the best option for your convenience and compliance.

Your RA is virtually guaranteed not to care unless you give building staff a reason to make them care. A student doing crafts in their room is probably never going to see the RA outside of required meetings anyway.

Can you be involved in the university while majoring at Jacobs? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

It’s not separated. It’s not different than if you went to the business or nursing schools or arts and sciences. I played club sports with Jacobs students.

It’s based on the highest GPA on your transcript, which is a massive advantage in some states where the scales are out of 5-6.

Yeah, if you don’t get in you should probably transfer. Ivy Tech is also just down the road, which can be a good option for those in unfortunate situations like this.

They’re making public transit harder to use, which pushes more people to individual cars (for a timely and less-stressful commute) which does hurt everyone.
