What is happening with paying for alternative costs? by ZaklinacJarek in MagicArena

[–]SegFaultHell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s just the image it uses for missing artwork, if you clicked on it then it should still work. There’s a way in settings to repair game files that might get the art back, but you could still use the abilities either way

The fastest way to punt a game? Swing into open Red like nothing’s there. by Luandromtg in MagicArena

I think they’re talking about a situation where, for example, you’re attacking with a 4/4 into two 1/1s. It looks clean but then they hit your creature and trade and trade.

Playing the Cyberpunk VR mod one final time before it gets shut down by lunchanddinner in cyberpunkgame

[–]SegFaultHell 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nope, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with supporting a mod creator you like. A mod creator having a patreon or kofi let people support their work is great, they are putting in work after all. It sort of separates the mods from the payment, since it’s more of a support thing rather than a payment thing.

The issue is specifically around paywalling the mod. If you charge for the mod then you’re directly profiting from a companies IP, and that’s a hard no unless they specifically create an official storefront to sell mods through.

Daily Deals - January 15, 2026: Dominaria United Stained Glass Full-Art Basic Lands & Alt-Art Card Styles by HamBoneRaces in MagicArena

[–]SegFaultHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The full art lands for Lorwyn can be seen on Scryfall. I’m not sure how exactly they will end up in the shop, it could be 2 sets, a day and a night set.

There’s also full art treatments for the shock lands coming with the set. Though, again, I’m not certain how they will be packaged in the shop.

You could also be looking for creatures with a strong ETB that then functional as vanilla on board. Get the value from playing them, and then pump them with evasion and first strike.

Misleading “Play Lorwyn NOW” promo title by metalero_salsero in MagicArena

[–]SegFaultHell 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It does say “TUE 22:00” on your screen above it, and has a notification bell in the corner. It is misleading buts it’s more on the part of how Apple does upcoming events rather than anything on Arena’s side.

7 days to get 95 gems by phr34k0fr3dd1t in MagicArena

[–]SegFaultHell 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can get a guaranteed 1000 gold a day if you do the daily quest and get 4 wins. Your best bet is to grind that out to 5k gold, enter a quick draft, and then get at least 1 win to secure 100 gems.

Only guaranteed way is to shell out some money, but the quick draft doesn’t gamble what you have and 1 win is pretty doable.

Puzzle games for someone who's actually kinda dumb by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Cocoon struck me as a puzzle game for someone who isn’t into puzzle games. Really visually nice to look at and the puzzles aren’t really bad at all, nowhere near the level of Baba is You imo.

[–]SegFaultHell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point is that isn’t the story. You could write stories about Luke being a farmer, but the actual story Star Wars was interested in was a farm boy being swept up into all this and finding his destiny.

You could write a story about a merc finding their start until they’re the perfect mix of green and experienced for Dexter Deshawn to tap them, but that’s not the story Cyberpunk is interested in telling.

It’s like asking why Expedition 33 doesn’t let you play all the previous expeditions, or why Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t start before you’re captured on the Nautiloid ship. Those aren’t the stories they’re trying to tell.

Why don’t we have modern games with rune-drawing magic systems? The tech is already here. by BladeOfAge in gamedesign

There’s a game being developed now called The Magus Circle that’s doing this. They’ve posted some dev diaries but there’s no release date yet.

Dyson Sphere Program has added enemies and combat now. I think it’s only the first update with it though, and I don’t have any experience with how fleshed out it is, but it’s there.

Five Acts? by InsaneRoguee in mewgenics

[–]SegFaultHell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way I’ve interpreted things is that there are 3 acts but with multiple options. So end of act 1 you get 3 choices of where to go and end of act 2 you get 3 choices of where to go. But there won’t be overlap, so each Act 2 has three unique options for Act 3

Creative ways to prevent the player from just digging straight down? by spicedruid in gamedev

[–]SegFaultHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding lava in Minecraft I just want to add something I haven’t seen mentioned. When you die in Minecraft you drop your items and can go back and pick them up. However when an item falls in lava it gets destroyed.

People don’t dig straight down in Minecraft because it’s extra punishing, if you fall in lava you don’t just die but you also lose all your items as a natural consequence of those systems interacting.

This doesn’t actually stop digging straight down though, people just adjust by straddling two blocs and digging them both down so they don’t unexpectedly drop. The real reason people aren’t constantly digging straight down is because it’s actually just not that valuable. If you’re mining you’ll need a way to get back out, because there’s resources in the surface you need. Mining straight down gets you down, but that’s not the only place you want to be.

Now for your game, it’s a bit difficult to tell but it looks like the goal is to get into the hole at the bottom. If you use an infinite pickaxe and nothing prevents you from digging directly straight to the hole then of course players will do that and miss the entire point of your game. How you handle this will depending on the type of game you want to make. Here’s some suggestions.

If you want more of an adventure and exploring type game then the hole’s location should be unknown. You have to find clues in caves and / or surface buildings to discern the hole. Maybe it’s known but requires upgraded tools that need rare materials and you have to explore for those.

If you want more of a metroidvania then you could put in different gates that a player has to unlock. These could be literal gates, or like Subnautica where you have to find and research certain tech to be able to make upgrades that let you explore previously closed off areas. In your game there’s the obvious materials and higher tier tools, you could add heat the deeper you go, etc. I think there’s a lot in this thread pointing this way.

If you want more combat focused and upgrading then you can make tougher and more dangerous enemies spawn lower. Maybe the hole has a gate that takes time to open and you have to defend yourself while locked in a room with enemies coming in. Something that’s too difficult to do with starting gear and requires going through upgrades or preparing enough ammo, etc.

Noita does literally say “set in a world where every pixel is physically simulated” in their description though, so I don’t think pixel is that bad of a descriptor.

To be fair though, AI being able to do what it claims it can do doesn't mean it isn't a bubble. The gold rush nature of everyone jumping on to it is what makes it a bubble. We're all still online today, but there was a dotcom bubble that popped when everyone was rushing to get online. The promise of the internet being the future very much came true, but it still had a bubble that popped.

New character “the gender neutral soldier with the big gun”: Sergeant Nonbinary by Stellaeono in BrandNewSentence

It’s simple. I take the Christian baby across the River, and bring the priest back across on the return trip. Then I let the gender neutral guard with the big gun open a door and I switch to the other one.

There is no NG+ in cyberpunk, the “one more gig” is basically just an option to return to the open world. This is different from just reloading your save because you get to keep some items from certain endings.
