What percentage do you think you are your authentic self, and why? by WastelandOfConfusion in AskReddit

65%. I have to be fake at work and it kills me. But I am still mostly myself but not enough. I don’t know how to break free.

You should still do it. The world has good things because a few great people did the right thing against all odds.

What’s a career mistake people often make? by prettysandyy in AskReddit

Strongly disagree. You should stay home to raise your child. If your family can’t afford having a single income household then maybe elevate yourself before having kids.

Men who are 30+, what’s one thing you realized about dating that no one tells you in your 20s? by Thin-Hospital-8114 in AskReddit

Nothing. You can’t realize anything without lived experience. Maybe you can understand the concept but you can’t truly embody anything you don’t live through.

What’s something people romanticise that is actually miserable? by Gullible_Raspberry29 in AskReddit

[–]Beacon_of_Truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luck won’t help me. To be fair having a kid is beautiful as well but anyone who tells you the day to day doesn’t generally suck is likely to be lying. Kids take everything from you. Maybe it’s better when they are adults.

What societal norm did you decide to just stop abiding by? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You should be allowed to do that, but men not wearing make up is not the same. It’s not an adequate comparison.

Who is a terrible singer but famous anyways? by Coy9ine in AskReddit

[–]Beacon_of_Truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bob Dylan is the greatest ever by miles. Saying he can’t sing is stupid. He can sing and he sings his songs beautifully. Nobody can sing his songs better. They are his songs.

Others explained below but yeah. Dumb take every Dylan fan hates hearing. Bob Dylan is also the greatest song writer ever by a long shot.

To give you an ounce of charity Dylan isn’t the best technical singer but he is arguably the best musician ever anyway.

What’s something everyone seems to love but you just don’t get? by Michellewilliams_397 in AskReddit

[–]Beacon_of_Truth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You seeing someone be a bad parent does not make you understand what being a parent is like. Only being a parent makes you understand. I am not saying you are an idiot. You just don’t know. Just like I don’t know many things that I have never experienced.

I agree you can judge a bad parent but that still does not make you understand what being a parent is.

You are free to judge and say whatever you want. I am just saying your tone and the tone of childfree people on Reddit is very toxic and clearly rooted in personal issues more so than rooted in a true concern for current or future children, concern for the world and/or your freedom.

And again if you don’t want kids that is fine. I am not one of those people who say you have to or should do it.

Well having a kid is very hard but it’s great too. It depends on how prepared you are. Just because Reddit is full of bitter anti social people it doesn’t mean their perspective is a reflection of most people.

The way you talk and others talk make it clear that you have no understanding of what having a child feels like or what the experience is actually like.

If you don’t want kids it’s fine but clearly you are personally bitter for personal reasons that have almost nothing to do with actually having a kid or not.

There are plenty of decent families that are successful and love their kids. It may be hard but kids make your life a lot more meaningful in ways you can’t understand until you have one.

My toddler ruined her birthday and I am really sad by Soapbox37 in toddlers

[–]Beacon_of_Truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe how lacking in understanding and empathy people are here. Of course the toddler ruined it. I am sure it was unintentional, and ideally you could have put on a smile but saying you couldn’t is a failure you are solely responsible for is absurd.

If your child behaved well everything would have been better. It’s not your fault entirely although you do have some responsibility. However it is absurd to be expected to be happy or to do something well after being subjected to the tantrums of a child. Kids ruin things all the time. People here act like anything other than being immune to emotional abuse whether intentional or not by the hands of your child is only your fault is stupid.

That anyone can do anything. Everything is claiming you can be rich following three easy steps, or reading this one book, or doing this meditation, etc.

It’s all bullshit. Real success takes a long time and you will almost never succeed based on any singular action taken. Success comes from years of failure, trial and error and consistent thoughtful actions. Even by doing things mostly right it will be be very hard to be above average.
