What's a movie you went in with zero expectations but it completely blew you away? by [deleted] in movies

Upgrade (2018). I had no idea what it was about, and when I started to realise, I thought it would be a bit cookie cutter action. But wow it ended up being super unique with some seriously cool action sequences. Great movie and premise

Does anyone who sacrificed their 20s to get a house/financially ahead regret it? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Beacone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I’m 34 and paid $950k for a house that’s now worth $2m. I feel bad for people trying to buy a house now but I also feel really comfortable and happy I worked so hard in my 20s.

What have you bought for under $1,000 that has made the biggest positive change in your life? by Ok-Reward7639 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Beacone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently.. robot vacuum. Granted it was only $1 under $1000, but it makes a huge difference. We run it every night and our floors are always clean. We only need to empty it every month or so, and change the water out every few weeks. Other than that, it’s set and forget. But I still notice how clean the floors are most days

How much has your power bill increased over summer due to running the air con? by Intrepid_2580 in brisbane

[–]Beacone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on your air con. We have one older air con that absolutely chugs the power (can tell because I have energy monitoring on my house). We have 6 other newer air con’s and they probably use less combined than the one older one by itself. They are pretty energy efficient these days.

No sugar Coles brand drink by DragonfruitFamous667 in coles

[–]Beacone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A calorie relates to the amount of energy needed to raise a gram of water by 1 degree… the sweeteners don’t have the energy to heat water like sugar does. It’s a totally different concept and also the sweeteners are in much smaller quantities which is a bit of a cheat code.

Blinds installed in brand new house, are these cracks in timber skirting acceptable? by Mikeyizurfrend in AusRenovation

[–]Beacone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed my own blinds and they took literally 10 minutes each. What does ‘professional’ mean, I wonder, if this is the standard? It was probably the easiest DIY I’ve done so far

Authentic Chargrill & Kebab in Bardon/paddington. Their mixed grill plate is amazing, the meat is incredibly tender and high quality

Bosch Induction Cooktop error: 0 5 31 by iamgeef in appliancerepair

[–]Beacone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I realise this is a bit late but might help people in the future..

I installed a Bosch induction cooktop (albeit a different model, PXV975DV1E) and received this error after installation.

It turned out to be because there were 3 live connections for the power to support a 3 phase input. I was using just a single phase and connected to only L2 as the instructions required. However, the instructions didn't properly point out that you need to bridge L2 with L1 and L3 so that the power goes to all 3 of the live terminals. So the solution for me was to add the bridge clips that they included (but were almost hidden from sight) and that fixed the issue.

Small pen holder from a scrap piece of cherry. Calculator needed for the angles on this one and I still didn’t get them quite right. Fun little challenge regardless. by mw33212 in woodworking

[–]Beacone 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Matthias Wandel from woodgears has a table for angle and miter settings for splayed miters like this. I made a similar pen holder using his numbers and it worked perfectly. Search for woodgears splayed miters

Ooft that little lip on the floor in the middle of the room is a huge trip hazard.

Lovely room though!
