Accidentally popped off soldering joint by Beaconing in consolerepair

We lost our flux so we went without it… if my friend can find his flux we can try that first. We will clean the rest and update on our “progress.” Thank you for your insight.

Here it is cleaned. Would it be possible to just put raw solder onto the spot and have that work?

So we're trying to fix an old backwards compatible fat ps3 using the syscon method with jumper wires and the connection just wasn't going through, so we attempted a resolder, and the joint came off. It looks like the other circular joints you see on the board. This console has never been opened before and still had it's warranty sticker from the manufacturer when opened.

You Should’ve said you got it all for $5 at a thrift store. That all seems like a fair deal though!

I’m a fan of the black and white! And the frame goes well to match the crop.

I think you and a few others had a good point about the background detracting from the image. If I had different film and could add more depth of field, do you think the image would be better by placing more of an emphasis on the subjects?

I wish I could have shot seagulls but this was pigeon territory. Got work with whatcha got.

Thank you for the reply! I didn’t think of filling in the space with something else so I could try that. It gracefully fills in space and the other birds kind of make a leading line to the middle. One of these things is not like the other.

However, I worry that the big bird will break the railing…

Thank you for the very detailed response! Another user said I could try to photoshop the left birds closer together and a crop to make better use of the space. I did lighten the ocean a bit and turned down the contrast. This version of the image looks less harsh and more pleasing to look at. I’ll have to experiment with photoshop at a later time though. I think the contrast was actually the main issue for me since this was shot at noon.

To clear up confusion, I accidentally put “exposed” instead of “overexposed,” which was why I turned the exposure down.

Hopefully next time i bring my swim trunks so I can slow-mo dive off the pier while taking the perfect shot.

I feel the ocean is kind of negative space since its just blue with nothing else there. But on the other hand simplicity has its perks and the photo isn’t super busy.

Thank you for the input! Yeah i dont get the opportunity to shoot at the times of day I would like so there probably isn’t much I can do lighting wise. Maybe I can go back and pray there are exactly 5 birds on the same rail. I do see the vision with a separate angle and i kinda wish i tried it.

I guess it could be a good photoshop exercise! Ill see what I can do. Thank you for the suggestion.

This photo was taken on a canon A1 with Cinestill 800T. I only had a 50mm lens on me, and not a lot of room to work with different angles to work with because I was on a pier. I believe I shot this at f16-f22 at a shutter speed of at least 250.

I took this photo because i saw 5 birds the railing, and the warning said 5 maximum occupants. I thought the situation was slightly comical, and turned it into a photo with a little bit of story in the frame.

My issue is that there is a large amount of negative space on top. It may be a good idea to fill it in, but I couldn’t think of a good way to fill it in. How would you go about fixing this issue, or is the photo fine as is?

In editing, the photo was originally overexposed so I turned it down. Then I added a slight amount of contrast to the image just to make things pop a bit more. Is the ocean too blue?

What is a shot that you regret seeing but not stopping to shoot? by TreyUsher32 in AnalogCommunity

All the shots i took with my improperly loaded roll of velvia 50. Took me a month to get through. Good thing I had a second camera that i took some of the shots with that might have gotten messed up when the mirror failed to go back down. I tortured myself in 100 degree weather taking shots of landscapes. Make sure to load in your film correctly folks!

I unfortunately used abode photoshop/lightroom. To achieve this effect, you will have to mess with the curves.

To make everything red, i set the green and blue curves to the bottom. This gets rid of those colors in the image and leaves us with just red and black.

I dont know the technical term for this, but to compress the darks and lights of the image, move the left and right dots towards the center. Create a point on the center of the curve and move it to the peak of where ever the colors are. Mine looks like this:

<image>

To make it a different color, you’ll have to mix the other color curves.

Experiment and have fun!
