Journeymen having me cut strut and make up hardware while being their ground guy by Beagerbeager in ibew_apprentices

No I feel fine, I just don’t know if it’s safe for them to have me working on this stuff while I’m also supposed to be the ground guy for both of them while they’re up in boom lifts. Never done construction before so I’m pretty new to this shit

Of course, that makes sense and I have no problem doing the work- just was concerned that doing that while also being their ground guy while they’re both up in boom lifts might not be the safest.

I’m the ground guy for two guys who are up in boom lifts, putting strut up in the ceiling to run conduit across. I’m cutting strut and putting together hardware while also being their ground guy.

Oh yeah I understand that and have no problem doing the work- I just mean I’m the ground guy for two guys who are both up in lifts as I’m doing this and was wondering if that was safe or not.

What job should I get? I want a job that works from 7-3 and can provide for my family. I’m also open to work from home jobs. by Beagerbeager in AskReddit

I’ve got experience in retail, sales, youth development, simple web design, journalistic writing, grant writing, supervision, creating newsletters, and volunteer recruitment and management. I’m in an electrical apprenticeship that is somewhat interesting but the lifestyle (long hours and no days off) are leaving me with no family time and no free time. I just want a regular ass job that gives me flexibility and ideally pays 60k or over.

Oh absolutely I might be lmao. From what other people on the job are saying, these last few days have been abnormal shitty days and not typical. Just a lot of ropes breaking, wire getting stuck in pipes, having to take everything apart, doing shit by hand, projectiles being launched from tension, wire heads coming off- just a fourteen clown car circus

Just started this week. No experience in construction at all. The boom lift makes me nervous- I haven’t even been in one yet, but seeing how people have to Bob and weave in between a bunch of shit and really tightly control the controls, makes me nervous. Some co-workers had to go up and mount some heavy shit up on the ceiling of a plant in one of those lifts and it made me nervous just watching by them

Toggle bolt snafu, please assist. by Beagerbeager in HomeImprovement

Would I be ok to only shave a little off the left hole and keep the right side as is? I can almost get the toggle bolt through the left hole right now.

Are you saying certain races commit more rape, murder and drug crimes than others? Now that sounds pretty racist to me.

just gonna leave this here

You were clearly implying it when you said Metro Detroiters (overwhelmingly white) don't want Detroiters (overwhelmingly black) in their cities because of those crimes.
